I HATE it when I don't put my tampon in right and I don't realize it until after I leave the bathroom. Its like half sticking out and hurts like an m-effer...
I had a traumatic experience when I got my first period and I haven't ever been able to wear them...ever.
I was a diver, and I had to go to practice the day I got my first period. I was too embarassed to tell my mom (god knows why) so I just read the instructions and put in a tampon. However, I didn't read all the directions, and I left the applicator in. I dove for three hours with half a tampon sticking out of me. It was painful and humiliating.
I used to do that all the time until I changed tampon brands. ?Now that I use Kotex, I don't do it, thankfully (knock on wood).
A, when I was in high school, one of my friends could not understand why we all used tampons, because they were so painful. ?She thought we were insane for not thinking they hurt. ?After a few months of going back and forth, we finally figured out she wasn't removing the applicator. ?Just thinking about it makes me hurt.?
I also had "issues" with tampons at first. I just quickly read the directions as my mom was too worried about me getting TSS from tampons she didnt' buy them nor would teach me. I didn't take out the applicator. Couldn't figure out why they were not working!!!
Not sure what direction we are headed. Either way, I am up for the ride.

That girl was me. Only I didn't figure it out until COLLEGE. But I love tampons now.
The other is it changes my periods from 3 days to 10. I would rather have a 3 day gusher with pads than a 10 day trickle with tampons.
Sort of related: I swear tampons are the cause of cramps when I have them.
Me too!! I always thought I was crazy for this, but I swear my cramps are a million times worse when I'm wearing a tampon. Perhaps I'm not as crazy as i thought, if other women have the same experience.
I was scared to death of tampons when I first got my period when I was 11, and my mom scared me even more saying that I could get TSS...I was too scared to even try them until I was 19...the first time I tried one it took me literally 2 HOURS to get it in right! I was in the bathroom forever...my friends thought I died in there and then when I told them what was going on they all laughed at me...but now I love them and would not go back to a pad, its like a diaper...too uncomfortable!
Once again, I spph my Diva Cup. I started using tampons almost immediately after getting my period (at age 12). I loved them before I realized how much better a period could be.

I hate tampons with a passion. I'll use them when I'm swimming, dressing up, or wearing tight pants. That's it.?
For you ladies who say pads are like diapers ... what the heck kind are you using? I use ultra thins and 90% of the time I don't even notice them. I haven't had that "diaper" feeling since I was 12 and used those bulky things that look like floatation devices.?
Contemplating the snow.

I've never had this problem with tampons. I think I'm missing a part of my anatomy because as a camp counselor for teenagers I had to teach a few girls how to put in tampons and we'd be shouting through the door and all of the sudden they'd be in pain. My co-counselor was like "No! You're putting it in the wrong place!" and all I could think was "she put it up her butt?" I've seriously never had the tampon "go in the wrong place".
But I do agree it makes my cramps worse! I'm always happy when I start my period on a day off and I don't have to wear one because they really do make them more intense.
I've been using tampons since I got my period. I hate pads, I don't like the feeling of "everything" just sitting in my pants. It feels gross. I feel much cleaner using tampons. I do know what you mean about getting it half in and not realizing it until you leave the bathroom. lol Sucks!
Sometimes I don't wear a tampon on the first day because it is too uncomfortable. I hate pads though. Even though I know its not true I feel like everyone can tell.
I hate pads because I have such a heavy flow if it is not slowed down by a tampon I will soak through a super heavy duty pad in an hour. Tampons do make my cramps worse and my period is shorter by a good two days with pads but the ruined underwear is not worth it. This said I still go through a super tampon every two hours and wear a super heavy duty pad at night and sleep with a red towel under me.
Re: weird tampon confession...
Thats why I don't wear tampons.

I also had a very traumatic experience early on and have refused to use them since.

OUCH! I have never tried using a tampon. I'm skeered.

I agree! I can always tell that my cramps get worse right after putting a tampon in. Glad I'm not the only one!

i only get cramps with tampons when I use one that is too heavy for my flow or too large for my body.
