Which nipples for Dr. Browns bottles with cereal added?

DD has reflux.  Meds have helped her take more milk and not hurt as much.  Still, she's spitting up so much that the pedi wants me to add cereal to her bottles to see if it will help her keep more milk down.  They are concerned about weight gain.

If you use Dr. Brown's bottles and have added cereal, what nipple did you use?  I just tried a level 2, and she seemed frustrated.

  • I just dealt with this exact thing this weekend. Level 4 works the best. It actually says on the box that they are for thicker liquids.

  • I still use the level 2, but he was only on level 1 before we started the thicker formula. Try the "y" cut nipples--they are designed for the thicker liquid.
  • I'll add..... just make sure you put enough cereal in the bottle, otherwise it will just pour out super fast and end up all over her face. LOL

We do a 6oz bottle and then add two heaping tablespoons of rice cereal. This is working for us, but DD is also almost 6 months, so she was almost ready for the faster nipple anyway.
