Preemies

lol burping

My DH is in the other room burping DS.  It's hilarious. If you didn't know what he was doing, you'd think DS was in absolute misery. He grunts like crazy when you burp him.  He also grunts if you're holding him and you change positions slightly - almost like he's complaining that he was cozy and didn't want to be moved.

It's hilarious!

It's funny too because every time he does that when we have company, they'll say "oh! he's pooping!" and I say "no, he just does that.  it's his way of comlaining."

Anyone else do this?

Re: lol burping

  • Max was super grunty when he was tiny... of course, now I wish I'd caught it on video, since he doesn't do it any more... the nurses had told us that preemies are, in general, grunty babies.

  • Zoey has a running commentary of grunts on her daily activities.  She grunts when you change her, when you burp her, and pretty much any other time you are disturbing her.  She even grunts in her sleep.  If she was really pooping during all this noise, she would be in trouble.  :)  It is hilarious!

  • My guys grunt 24/7.  I swear they even do it in their sleep sometimes:) I am glad it is "normal" because I was starting to worry:)
  • JW was a big time grunter. Now he jabbers all the time.

The nurses told us that preemies are "grunters" as well, but for some reason I thought he'd grow out of it when he reached term...ha! nope!
  • OMG it must totally be a preemie thing. DD would do it all the time. Everyone would always say oh I think she's pooping. I used to tell DH gosh I can't wait til she grows out of this. She would get overstimulated very easily and used to grunt when she was annoyed. Which was all day the first couple months. I think she stopped when she was about a month adjusted and then the grunts turned into sweet little coos :)
  • oh yeah! ?one of my twins had a huge case of the "preemie grunts"! ?All day and all night he would grunt and squeal. ?He eventually outgrew it and now when people think he's pushing he actually is.... ?lol!
