And there were 2 things:
- Baby has tiny cysts where the spinal cord meets the brain (where the spinal fluid is created - I forget what they're called). The doctor believes that these will disappear in the next couple of weeks/months and isn't worried since we don't have any other markers for Trisomy 18. But DH is still worried, and that's bothering me.
- My placenta is low. The doctor is requesting another ultrasound at 30 weeks to check to see if its fixed itself and if not, I'll need to have a c-section. I was really hoping not to, but plans change!
Re: Results of ultrasound today
I'm sorry to hear that it didn't go perfectly but it sounds like it will all turn out in the end.
As for the low-lying placenta, it is very common at this stage. You are only halfway through your pregnancy. I think what I've heard from on here is it has a good chance of moving as your uterus gets larger. It sort of mirgrates with your uterus. I think mine was low then as well and now it's good
Good luck!

According to WTEWYE:
"An estimated 20-30% of placentas are in the lower segment in the 2nd trimester (and an even larger percentage before 20 weeks), the vast majority move into the upper segment by the time delivery nears. If this doesn't happen...a diagnosis of "placenta previa" is made. This complication occurs in only about 1% or less of full-term pregnancies. And in only 1 out of 4 of these cases is the placenta low enough (partially or completely covering the mouth of the uterus) to cause a problem. If a sonogram shows a low-lying placenta once you're well into your 8th month....(you're probably need a c-section) to reduce risk of hemmorage.
Hope that's reassuring!

That sounds scary! I hope everything is okay with you and the baby! I know I don't want a c-section either!
Let us know any updates!
Yes, that's what he has! On both sides.
But, I know she said they should go away.
And to the person who posted the quote from WTEWYE - thank you! That is reassuring
