WTF work? vent & cry

Well, as soon as I got back from the Y, my boss and his boss asked to meet with me. They basically told me what I knew was coming, given the way things have been around here lately- if my revenue doesn't go up, I will be reprimanded and/or terminated. Lovely.

Then, my boss, who has never liked me, begins a personal attack I have never seen the likes of. He tells me people find me negative, impersonable, and unapproachable- but would not tell me who said that.

God, I am so sick of it here. I hate to whine about this all the time, but I need you ladies to please pray for me that something else comes along. I am at my wit's end- I am a positive, good person, who has done nothing but try my best at this position, but my boss will stop at nothing to get rid of me till I am gone.

What a way to start my holiday.... Crying

Thank you! I have always gone out of my way to do things for people here, like bringing in my birthday cake to share last year, I hosted an after hours get together at my house last year, hell, I even had a Christmas after party at my house for everyone after our Christmas party last year!

Thanks sweetie, it means a lot! I just don't know what I did to make them feel this way, but my boss insists 'several people' have come to him.

There is only one girl at work that doesn't like me and has been actively trying to steal my job from me, but surely her opinion cannot translate into several people!

I've been in your shoes before, but all you can do is try to have a positive attitude until something new comes up and with them already giving you "the talk" I'm sure this will be hard. Hang in there.

Not in my current position. Actually, I've never gotten a productivity talk, but the attitude talk. That was my previous job. I couldn't wait to get the heck outta there. That place had such a bad vibe, it just rubbed off on me.

On the plus side I've been wanting to compliment your siggy pic and say how cute it is!

I've been there though,I had a job a few years ago where my old counter manager used to HATE me. She used to steal sales from me and as just so mean for no reason. She went to the stores head manager and complained and told him these lies about me. He called me in and yelled at me. I ended up making a bunch of sales the next day and when he came up and told me good job I basically told him that I'm glad he see's that when that horrid girl left me alone I was an amzing employee but to bad and to late because I quit! Ya, Not to mature I know... but bad managers can really make a job hell and I just could not handle it any more.

I hope something MUCH better comes along for you! ::hugs::

Having had staff for over 10 years, I am appalled at this.

1. I hope to hell that your goals (revenue or otherwise) ar completely laid out and reviewed with you on an ongoing basis to ensure you have all the support/training/information you need to do your job correctly.

2. If they/he are going to critique behavior in that manner, he needs to give you some incidents that he has witnessed - not gossip and inuendo from "people". That's unprofessional and lame.

3. I'd ask for another meeting. Go back, ask for a review of all specific areas that need improvement and specific examples of where attitude is negative and come up with a game plan together.

And boot him in the arse for me. Ffs.

That is the dumbest reasoning I've ever heard! You aren't there to be buddies with everyone. You're there to work, right? Isn't that what he wants instead of wasting time emailing chit-chat and running around chatting it up??

I totally agree with Cathy. Do you have an HR person you can talk to? They need to give you concrete issues, they can't just go on hearsay. Boo to your manager!!!

Sorry about that. Your boss sounds like a douche. I hope you can find something better and then have the satisfaction of giving him your notice. What a jerk!
