So my doctor recommended waiting until the end of 1st tri to dye my beloved gray hairs. I actually finally did it yesterday and used the organic vegetable hair dye from Whole Foods (which has no ammonia or other harsh chemicals that are bad for us and smell bad). It came out great and covered all of my gray! My grays are very stubborn so I was skeptical about the veggie dye but it worked great.
The one I used is called Naturtint. Just wanted to pass this on. I know this is always a hot topic, especially for those in their 1st trimester.
Re: Hair Dye - Especially for those in 1st trimester...
As a FYI... I made it to week 11 and then caved. I've colored my hair twice since then?and actually plan to go every 4 weeks now since my hair is growing like a weed.
Baby has been healthy thus far, so I'm not overly worried about the chemicals harming him.

Interesting, thanks!
I've been using this stick thing I found at a Walgreens... it's like a touch-up stick that you apply to the roots by wetting and dabbing. I've been using it to hide the horrendous silvers that have invaded my head since I stopped coloring months and months ago. But it's getting baaa-aaad so maybe I'll try this!
I've colored twice already, and I plan to at least one more time. It makes me feel good, and I am going longer between colorings.
I figure even shampoos and conditioners have chemicals in them. I actually use organic shampoo and conditioners without parabens, maybe to justify my hair coloring.
I held out until Week 10 - I looked so godawful that I broke down and asked my doc if it was ok. She said there's no mercury or lead in hair dye and it's fine. Prior to that I had in fact used a non-permanent color to try to mask and it didn't do jack.
I'm pretty much back on my every five weeks schedule.
