Was anyone unable to BF the first baby but was successful at BFing the second? I really wanted to BF our first but he was early, my milk never came in and after trying and trying for weeks I finally gave up. It was horrible and didn't help the PPD at all but I digress. I'd really really like to BF this baby. Any suggestions on how to have a better shot at success this time?

My SIL didn't BF her first but tried with the second and had a hard time because she also had to care for her oldest. I would say that you should make sure that you have a lot of help with your older child so that you can really give BF a lot of attention at first when you get started. Other than that, I don't know, but good luck with your pg and bfing!

one of my best friends did not nurse her first because she ended up on meds for PPD that tanked her supply very early on (like 2-3 weeks pp). She successfully BF'd her second daughter until 6-7 mo, at which point she weaned her. good luck!

Me! I tried with DS (probably not hard enough though) and we could never get the latch down, so I EP'd for a while. This time I was determined to make it work, and so far, so good! I won't lie - its hard, especially with having 2 under 2. But its doable. I did a ton of research this time around and tried to figure out where I went wrong the first time.

My sister didn't BF her first but BF the second one for a month (that was her goal). She had a lactation consultant at the hospital and it helped that her second didn't need nicu time.
