I had planned to use my friend's breast pump. She paid $300 for it and she only used it for a few weeks. I thought I could buy some replacement parts and it would be fine to use. When I called Medula they gave me the run around about how it's only meant to be used for one person and they can't answer my questions about what all parts I need to buy. So have you or anyone you know used someone else's pump? What should I replace? I haven't seen the pump in person so I'm not really sure what I need to replace. For example, from what I can see from the pictures on the website, the tub that goes to the motor doesn't look like milk would go through that so I'm thinking I don't have to replace it. Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Medula breast pump
I'm assuming she has the Pump in Style...? It's about that price. I have one, and I bought mine new, but my LC and Doula both said it's fine to buy a used one, it's still completely sanitary. The milk doesn't come in contact with the machine itself.
For that pump, you would need new tubing, membranes, the little "connector" piece that hooks the tube up to the part that covers your nipple, and the actual cup that goes over your nipple. Sorry I don't know what the parts are called! They sell all of that at BRU or Target. I'm guessing the people at BRU could show you exactly what you need to buy.
FWIW, I have the PISA and I absolutely love it. Good luck!
Free really? ?I just broke a tube a few months ago and didn't want to buy a new one until the next kiddo comes around. ?I am going to call!
You need two tubes, connectors, horns, two yellow valves and membranes.?
