Looking for a doctor

Hello all!

We are relocating to Alexandria VA and I just took a HPT and got a POSITIVE!

We are moving next week and my doctor here in Kansas cannot fit me in before I leave and said it was ok to wait til I move.  Yuck.... I'm antsy!  So.... I'm looking for a doctor in Alexandria.  We are a Military family with TriCare Prime and are attached to either Ft. Myer or Ft. Belvior.

I would like to schedule my first visit as soon as I arrive in VA, June 1, which is 7 weeks since the first day of my last period.

Any suggestions and information is welcome!

Re: Looking for a doctor

  • I have no idea if they take tricare, but I loved my OB practice:  Physicians for Women on Kenmore Ave in Alexandria.  Dr. Rothman was my main dr. (though I saw them all since they rotate you), Seigal delivered since he was the one on call.  FWIW, I got to know all of the drs. fairly well since I was in and out of the hospital with pre-term contractions and was impressed with all of them.

  • I have no recommendation but wanted to say congratulations and welcome to the board!
  • Again, no suggestions, but welcome to the area and congrats on your pg.

Your best bet might be to check with your insurance to see what doctors in the area take TriCare Prime and then post the names of drs. here on DC Area Babies and also on The Nest in the DC Area board to see if people have experiences with any of the drs.

  • Just wanted to add that I also use Physicians for Women and like all the doctors there.  My friend used Physicians & Midwives (which is in the same building but a different practice) and I think others on the board like them as well.

I agree with OP, look and see what doctors your insurance lists and post on here and see if people can give you recommendations based on that.

     Welcome!

I second the recommendation for Physicians for Women.
  • Thank you all!  Any feedback is good and yes I will check the local provider list.

    Happy Belly to you all!
