2nd opinion or u/s before d&c???

I am scheduled for a D&C this morning. The heartbeat stopped after already seeing it twice.

My question is, did any of you have a 2nd opinion or get an u/s before the D&C?? Is it possible they made a mistake? They say it is not.

My dr. said I could come in and get scanned before, but it won't change things. Yes, it would be peace of mind, but then on the other hand, it would be hard to see again...

Thoughts please....asap!! Thanks

I am sorry for your loss. My doctor in Duluth gave me a second ultrasound to confirm that Brady no longer had a heartbeat before they began to induce me. It was hard to see again but it helped me with the what if question I had. Hang in there! ((hugs))

I have my D&C tomorrow morning, and I just asked my doctor last night if she'd do a final u/s to make sure the baby is actually gone. I know it will be difficult, but at least I'll have that final peace of mind that he/she actually is gone. Plus, it will give DH one last time to see him/her and say goodbye (he wasn't at the other u/s with me when I found out Tuesday).

I had 2 done before the d&C to be sure. It gave me peace of mind.

So sorry. An u/s before my d & c confirmed that there was no heartbeat and that the baby did not grow. There was definitely no mistaking it (as much as I hoped there was a mistake made)

I was in denial and made a big deal about not signing the consent form for the d & c before I saw the u/s. Now I feel like an idiot but I was still in shock, I guess.

Had a second ultrasound a week after the first with the exact same measurements as the week before and no heartbeat, which was sad but reassuring at the same time.

I'm sorry for your loss.

After having our first u/s to date the pregnancy, we were called back in 2 days later since they could not confirm a heartbeat. The baby had grown by a day or two, but they said there was no heartbeat. We couldn't agree to a D&C then, because if the baby were able to grow, it just might be really slow and we wanted to give it every chance it could have to continue to grow.

We asked our doctor to wait a week for another u/s to see if there was any difference. It was a tough week to wait through and hope and pray. We went back the following week and the baby was still measuring the same size (6w3d). By then, it would have been impossible for me to have gotten pregnant that cycle (trying to think if I would've O'ed late, etc), so we then knew it was over.

It was for more of the peace of mind than anything else, and although it was bittersweet to see our baby bean just as he was a week before, I appreciated being able to see him again. We had the D&C the following Monday.
