3rd Trimester

Anyone have a shower at 38 weeks?

That's the only time my church can do it because of mission trips, camp, VBS, and such. I'm so excited for it, but slightly nervous because it is so late. Anyone have one at 38 weeks or later? Can you make me feel better? :)

  • I'm having my 3rd at 38 weeks. Smile it will be small, but still appreciated. The woman throwing it said if I go early *which won't be likely* then she will just bring the gifts over to me when we get home.

  • My shower was considerably earlier because I had to travel to get to it, but I'm 38 weeks right now and I can tell you that I would feel fine having a shower right now.  The only reason it would be a problem is if your LO comes early, or if you have complications that would require you to be on bedrest or something.
  • My MIL insisted on throwing me a second shower that is 12 days before my EDD.  We already have everything we NEED for the baby.  We registered for "older kid" items like a toddler car seat, high chair, etc....for the second shower, so if we don't get them no big deal.  The thing I'm not liking is that DH's whole family will be there, including some out-of-towners whom I've never met, and I don't think it's super appropriate to expect me to be the center of attention and on display that far into my pregnancy.  But I'm really flattered that she's throwing it, so I'll put a smile on and go and manage as best I can.  GL with yours!
  • My shower was right between 37 and 38 weeks. My sorority sisters from college threw it and it worked best for all of them to come into town then. We had plenty of time to get everything organized and thank yous out, but then again, we thought we'd have our little one by now!

  • This will be my second shower, but by FAR the biggest. My H is the youth minister at that church, so we know quite a few people will be there since so many know us and are excited about her arrival. 90% of everything we get from showers will be from the church one. The other is just a small get together with about 15 people. I'm nervous since I'm a planner, and not knowing what I still need to get until 2 weeks before my due date is panicking me.

  • I am having mine at 38 weeks too, and I am glad to read these to see that it will be fine! I feel awful saying this, but we're so broke that we are kind of 'depending' on the shower to make sure that we get what all we need... although now with the timing, we are working to find a way to get all the necessities before then just in case! Now, I just need to figure out what the necessities are!!!

  • My shower will be at 38 weeks exactly.  I'm a little nervous about preparing stuff like PP said.  We have most of what we NEED now, but I still would feel totally unprepared if he came now.
  • One of mine was at 38.5 weeks. ?It was fine. ?You don't need that much in the beginning.

  • My 3rd shower will be at 38 weeks. My aunt is throwing it and my parents said if I'm in the hospital or if she's too little to bring along that they'll just go and bring the gifts to us. Honestly, at this point, we have everything we need (but sure- there are other things that would be nice to have) so I am not that worried. But then again, I've already had 2 showers.
