Im having an ultrasound tomorrow - they said to check size and fluid level - is this a timeframe where they can make a good guesstimate as to how big he will be at birth? or is that later? Thanks
They estimated my baby to be around 4 pounds at my 32 week u/s and said that based on that I would likely have an average sized baby- 7.5 pounds or so. But if they dont offer up this info, certainly ask the doctor.
Trying for #2 since July 2010 BFP 8/1/10, missed m/c, D&C 9/15/10. BFP 1/8/11, chemical pregnancy. BFP 3/4/11, measured behind all along, no more HB 4/18/11. D&C 4/29/11. HCG didn't drop, Repeat D&C 6/17/11; confirmed molar pregnancy 6/23/11. Forced break, including two Hysteroscopies in October to remove retained tissue. BFP 12/29/11! Betas @ 10 dpo = 85, 14 dpo= 498, 22 dpo = 7242 Heard HB 1/24/12. 144 bpm!
My Dr. does all my u/s and estimated dd to be 4lbs 2oz at my 32w u/s. which is the 50th percentile. he said that if she stays at the 50th percentile then I can expect a 7lb 5-10oz baby.
I had one done at 28 weeks, 32 weeks, and another scheduled at 35 weeks. He measured 3.7lbs at 28 weeks, 6lbs at 32 weeks. Of course this means I measure 3 weeks ahead which is hopefully the case cause I want this baby out!!
You can get a rough estimate. Like they could say it's 3 lbs and you can guess an average baby will grow about 6 oz a week, but it could still be really far off in 9 wks.
My baby was spot on at 34 wks at 4 lbs, 6 oz and they were never fearing she'd end up a small baby. I had an ultrasound last week and she had only gained 6 oz in 4 wks and now they are concerned. So a lot can happen....
Re: 31 week ultrasound?
i had a growth u/s at 28 and 34 and will have another at 38.
they should be able to give you a good guess... but only if that tech does a lot of growth u/s and it is a level 2 u/s.
the better the machine the more accurate the measurements.
mine are done at the hospital, level 2 u/s
