and have trouble getting pregnant, is there anything you can do? is there anyway to make your body ovulate earlier in the month. I've been ovulating really late -- cd 25/26 and we're TTC without any luck. I've read that it's harder for an older egg to be fertilized.

Re: if you ovulate late every month
If you ovulate on CD 25/26 every month - then it's not late. It's on time for you.
Agreed. It just means you have longer cycles. I don't O till CD 19-22 on a normal cycle. Fewer chances in a year to get pg, but your chances aren't any worse on a given cycle just because they are longer.

2nd. You aren't late, you are regular. Everyone ovulates at a different time in their cycle.
It doesn't make it harder to get pg because it's later in the cycle. You just O less in a year because your cycles are longer. My O is b/t CD 20-24. That's normal for me. I still have a 20% each cycle of getting pregnant.
I wouldn't worry about CD25/26--that's really not that bad at all.
I O'd on CD44 and totally got KU.
actually I have read that older eggs are harder to fertilize so it does make it harder to get pg when ovulation occurs so late in the cycle. The uterine wall is thinner which makes it harder for the egg to attach.
It IS possible, that's what we're saying. You are ovulating, that means you can get pg. It does not matter what day you O on, as long as it's happening.

thanks. from what I've read that isn't true. ovulating late can be a problem. oh well... thanks for the help.
Your eggs get older as you age. Not older like releasing later in your cycle. Your eggs are always as old as you are.
thank you.
I ovulate late as well and I researched it just like you did, and there is actually conflicting information out there. It seems that some doctors do believe it is harder to get pregnant, while some think you have the same chance as anyone else. So, I don't think that is necessarily true. I always ovulated late and I got pregnant on our second cycle trying, when I ovulated on CD29. So, I'm going to have to agree with the doctors that say it doesn't matter which day you ovulate!
*headdesk*
This exactly. THANK YOU Kie!

sorry for wording it poorly.
this is what I've read.. I shouldn't have used the term old.
I think what she might mean (though didn't articulate) is that the eggs are not of as good quality, which can be true.
Op - talk to your doctor. There are some supplements which can help you ovulate earlier in your cycle. If it goes beyond a year of ttc with no results they may do some testing. GL!
All others - it would be helpful to actually know what you are talking about before posting incorrect responses.
Word!
AGREED
Well I have talked to my DR and she told me that I'm fine with Oing "later" in my cycle and still have the same chances of getting PG in a cycle.
Please re-read above- DIFFERENT DOCTORS HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS. I know Beffsky's dr told her the exact opposite of yours. I don't know how to make this more clear
I get it. It's simple, everyone has different opinions about everything.
How on Earth is this turning into drama? Shame on us?
I was thinking the same thing
because it seems that some answers- not all- were intended to make the OP feel stupid for asking the question. One "headdesk" one comes to mind.... when in fact it was a very valid question for her to ask, and it seems like she has researched it
It is because half of these responses were given not even knowing what the OP was talking about. Many people on this board answer based on what has already been posted whether or not it is true.
If you don't have the answer for the OP - don't respond.
I'm just a bit confused. When you say you are O'sing late in your cycle, does that mean that you have a short LP?
If you're ovulating on CD 25/26, and have a 35 or less day cycle...then yes, you have a problem.
But if you are ovulating on CD 25/26 and your cycle is 36 or more days in length, then from what I understand (from reading TCOYF and talking to my OBGYN and RE), is that you should be able to conceive a child.
To the OP -
I have 28 day cycles but have ovulated around day 19 which my MD says is later than she would like. She mentioned something about progesterone. I don't have time to google but it might be something to look into.
GL! I think this was a great question.
Her concern is late ovulation, not short LP.
I've read this as well. When I first started ttc, I was O'ing on cd 23 (which I thought was late too) so I did everything I could to reduce stress and now I am consistently O'ing on cd 16. Also, I don't start temping until cd 12 or 13 and that definately reduces anxiety for me. HTH.
