massage to bring on labor

My doctor is going to induce next week because of low amniotic fluid if I don't go naturally before.  While having my highlights touched up yesterday, my stylist told me that one of the masseuses does massages to bring on labor, really only by 'word of mouth' since it's not proven or anything, or actually a service the salon advertises.  She has done them for several of the girls who work at the salon.  I actually got to talk to one lady and she highly recommended it, said her experience was great and her baby came two days later. 

Have any of you done this?  I can't help but feel a little trepidation, but it seems more natural than pitocin!  Opinions please!!

    It's pretty well known really. There is a spot in your hand and a spot on your ankle that can help stimulate contractions. That's why if you get a pg massage late in pg they won't rub your ankles in those spots...well, at least my spa doesn't/didn't either pregnancy.

    I got a pregnancy massage done last Saturday, and told her to focus on the spots that induce labor (after asking my doc if it was okay)...so she did and massaged the spots on my ankles and my hands, and about 4 hours later I had one really bad, painful contraction and nothing after that.  And the massage itself was pretty uncomfortable for me...so all in all it wasn't worth it but I'm sure there are people it has worked for! Good luck!

    i've heard of foot massages that could bring on labor, pressure points that could be hit to cause contractions. I'm always skeptical of that thing though.

    Any massuse certified in pre-natal will know what pressure points can trigger labor. I'm schedudeling to see mine after next week. It's worth a shot and a massage is always fabulous!
