I know that the baby will be wearing me out, but that's not the wear out I'm talking about. I'm talking about the thought of watching the same talk shows, and laying in bed until noon, and wearing my pj's day in and day out is sord of getting to me! I'm just used to being at work, school, and running errands around town. I went to my c-section class the other night, and I was told that I wouldn't be able to drive for 4 weeks, and DH will be at work! So that means I will be in the house all day with my two older children and the baby! I know that I will be BORED OUT OF MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope not, I'm thinking that after the baby is a few weeks old I can take her for strolls around the neighborhood or something! I know that I won't be able to be cooped up in the house all day!
Re: Do you think that you will become bored @ home while on maternity leave?
i see your point about being slightly trapped, but i really think this is the ideal time of year to have a baby because we can get out and about for walks and stuff (i live in chicago so this is defintiely good weather time...i guess it depends where you live if it's too hot yet).
but just try to stay sane and get out where you can!

You can get some things now that will keep you busy. You can read, make some freezer meals, work on a craft. I think you will be a bit busier than you may think.

i am actually looking forward to doing NOTHING! i have always had a really really full schedule with grad school, working full time, having 2 part time jobs on the weekends, etc... so i am really ready for a break..
i am actually going out early too (end of may, i will be 30 weeks) because i have had so many complications so far (and gest. hypertension)... so i am just gonna play it safe and enjoy the time i have solo before baby....
but i do have a feeling that i will be ready to go back to work by the end of leave which is end of oct!... even at that- i am not coming back full time i think!
it will be boring if you don't get out, see people, etc. I always made sure to leave the house once/day - even if just to go pick up milk at the store. I would go crazy stuck at home all day every day.... one of the big reasons why i did not want to have a winter baby - and planned to have my kids in the spring- thank God it worked out that way!
I am bored outta my mind right now - but I don't think I will be once the LO arrives.
I feel like I will be either taking care of and playing with him or her or resting!
AMEN! This will be my first summer off since high school. I can't wait to spend time with my DS and enjoy whatever "nothing" might entail. I usually the worker bee type and have to have a schedule but I think the baby will be enough of a schedule for me!
No way!
I haven't had 3 months off from work since I was 15 years old. Even though this isn't a vacation in any way, I'm treating it like one damn it!
I'm not sure you'll have time to be bored with a newborn! From what I understand there's a lot of work involved there!!
As for later, sure, if you let yourself. Honestly, if I watched talk shows all day, laid in bed until noon, and didn't change out of my pajamas, I'd get incredibly depressed. I don't like daytime television, so I don't plan to watch it. I can't imagine a baby letting you lie in bed until noon. And, once the baby is old enough, I'll plan at least one outside the house activity per day so that I have a reason to get up, dressed, and put makeup on.
Well it hink it depends on your personality and state of mind. I didn't really truley relax until 6 months and then I LOVED it, there was also a point at 2 months when DD slept really well when i remember saying to dh "this is the life" but y 3 months she had sleep issues so it was not so happy.
After 6 months I loved being home because I had finally gotten comfortable with it, and made a new life as a SAHM> i went back at 1 year though so by 10 months I was stressed and misrable as I couldn't "relax" instead I had to prep for going back to work (getting clothing, finding daycare etc).
I love being home, and plan to stay home for atleast a year with this one as well.
I was bored sometimes but that's because being home all the time is not the "norm" and until you find a pace and rythm and get comfortable with it it will remain boring and frustrating. Some people don't want to be home, my sister hated it but she was never home longer then 3 months. I think it takes longer then that to settle into it. After all you've been working how mnay years in a row? It's an adjustment.
There's no chance of me being bored this time around since DH will be home most of my 3 months (he's a teacher) and we're taking DD out of daycare for the summer.
Bored? no chance.
The thought of laying in bed until noon is awesome but I highly doubt that will happen!
I won't this time since I will have a 16 month old to take care of too.
I was not really bored last time either. DD only took 30-40 minute naps so I either used that time to sleep or got something done. I really didn't spend that much time during the day watching tv...since DD was always awake or screaming. She was a pretty needy baby.
