I'm so irritated... My mom, who is generously taking care of Quinn (well, she moved in with us permanently so we are in turn taking care of her), claims Quinn's appetite is huge now. On the other hand, my MIL, who was taking care of Quinn last week before she left and my mom came in, claimed Quinn only wanted 2.5 oz. a feeding.
OK. So here's where I'm irritated: I get home last night, look in the fridge and find that almost all the milk I had in there was gone! There were at least 6 feedings! There was only one when I got home... So I added my meager 4 oz. that I pumped at work and my mom asks, "You're going to pump more tonight right?" YARGH!
So I pumped last night while Quinn slept and then this morning, madly trying to make sure there were enough feedings for at least half the day. I also fed Quinn so just now at my last pumping session I only got 3.5 oz. Sigh...
I'm stressed out about this. I don't think there will be enough milk for Quinn this afternoon. I'm almost positive I will return home and there will only be one feeding left of the five I made. We're gonna be turning to formula because my mom is probably wasting milk. (I've seen her use 3-4 oz. in a bottle and then throw some out...) She also used the Avent bottle when I had the Breastflow bottles ready - "they're easier and the milk goes out faster."
Sigh...
Re: Bf & pumping vent (long)
Thats the only thing I hate about pumping, idk if DH and the sitter are wasting the milk.
And dont worry about pumping enough, once you get on a regular routine and nurse as much as possible while with her, your supply will increase on demand. I just went from only being able to get 2.5-3oz per session to 3.5-4.5oz. I nursed all weekend on demand and I guess he was demanding more ^_^
if your mom may be wasting milk, can't you just tell her to stop? if you store your milk in a full feeding quantity, can you tell your mom that if your LO wants more, she should only give more an ounce at a time so you don't waste as much?
also, how often do you pump at work? if you can fit in an extra pumping session at work, you may be able to increase your supply some.
