Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I think I have the only 2 month old who won't STTN.

Or at least I feel like it right now. I've really tried everything. We've had 2 flukes but that is it. I'm just about to give up...I guess it will happen when he's ready but I'd love to get more than a 3-4 hr stretch of sleep at night.  After that first waking the sleep just isn't good....I might as well stay up.

  • we're at 3 months and I don't see it happening any time soon. She did it once, at 7 weeks, but I knew it wouldn't last!

Sttn before doubled birth weight is the exception not the rule.
  • Oh right here with ya hun...oh wait DD is 5 months. yeah. she still wont:(
  • Um, my daughter is 4 1/2 months and has only sttn a handful of times. I just tell myself "it's only temporary, it's only temporary..."

  • If it makes you feel any better, I am pretty sure that after C's weight check on Thursday they are going to make us wake to feed.  Sad  STTN early is not always good!

  • my nieces didnt sttn til 2 years old! Everyone has their own view of sttn. If you call sttn 6-8 hrs, ds did that at 7-8 wks, but it wasnt every night. aroudn 2-3 mos he would do 8 hrs from about 7 to 2 which was great, but thats not sttn for me. Now forget it, we are teething and he just got over a cold...its always changing. to me sttn doesnt always stay that way.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

I think I will be in your boat at 4 months and I keep telling myself the SAME thing.

I just don't get it.  He will sleep great during the day and always has been a great sleeper but just not at night!

  • At least you had two flukes...DS has never slept more than 5.5 hours at night without getting up. He does one long stretch...it was 3, then 4, and now is 5 hours right when he goes to bed (usually 7:30-8:30)...then he's up every 2-3 hours until 6:00 AM...then I can usually get him back down until 7:00...but that's it! We don't go to bed until 10 or so...so I'm still not getting more than 2-3 hours at a time <sigh>.

Here is hoping it's coming soon since he's stretching that long bit out further and further.

  • OH don't worry.  Lillian *just* started STTN (10hrs) last week.  She's almost 4 months old.  I thought it would never happen.

I think I just jinxed myself....

  • J just sttn for the first time Monday. I haven't figured out if it was a one time thing or if he will start to sttn regularly. I can't wait till I can 8 hours of sleep every night.
  • Pssshhh I can count on one hand the number of times DS slept more than 5.5 hours in a row.  Usually it's more like 3, and he's over 3 months and double his birth weight!
  • my two month old is up AT LEAST once, if not more, times each night.

My older son didn't STTN until he was 17m old.

My eyes bleed. But I assure you they WILL STTN one day. lol

  • DD didn't sleep through the night until 6.5 months. And DS is almost 3.5 months and still gets up at least twice a night.

I don't have any friends or family who had a 2 month old that STTN. And this is out of upwards of 50 babies. The Nest (or Bump or whatever) seems to have a disproportionately high number of infants that STTN. ?

  • DS doesn't. We can usually count on a good 4-4.5 hour stretch in the beginning of the night, but then he will be up 2-2.5 hours later. One time he did sleep 6 hours, which I hear is technically STTN, but I am sorry, sleeping 9-3 is not STTN in my book. I don't wake up at 3am!!!

  • K didn't sleep through the night until last weekend.  I believe they won't do it until they are ready.
