2nd Trimester

Attention team pink ladies...

How much pink stuff are you actually buying for your little girl? I like pink but I really didn't think I would go overboard with pink for the baby. However, I was looking through the clothes we've gotten and like, 80% of it is pink! Different shades of pink, but pink all the same. I never thought it would be so hard to steer away from it, but it seems like I'm being sucked in, lol!

  • I love me some PINK!  Big Smile

  • Resist the temptation to overload on pink clothes.  Everyone who buys you clothes for your shower will most likely get you PINK.  You will get sick of it.  You can definitely find cute girl clothes that aren't pink!

  • My mom is going to be a first time Grandma, so she's been scouring sales to find baby stuff. Before we know the baby was a girl, my mom had already bought so much gender neutral stuff that I don't think she'll wear the same outift twice, ever!

So, to answer your question, I am loving buying the pink stuff, but I think she'll be wearing greens, yellows and tans as much as she will pink.

  • Very little - we've bought clothes in green, gray, black, reds, etc. We're trying to avoid purchasing it since we know people will gift pinks. I got frustrated enough after one shopping trip that I came home, drafted a pattern, and sewed a black & white spring dress for her because everything was white-white or pink.

  • It's all just so cute! Actually, if we bought 100% of the clothes there would not be nearly as much pink. But it seems like anyone who buys you clothes if you're having a girl always buys pink.

  • Im not a big fan of pink.  I am buying lots of purple.  Im sure others will be buying her plenty of pink - she doesnt need any more from me.  That being said, I got a free bouncer the other day and that is pink. Plus we are getting tons of hand me downs from a friend that Im sure are loaded with it.  Its unavoidable.

  • I totally got sucked in when I was pregnant with my daughter.  And I was never a pinky girly girl either.  I don't think I have ever worn pink!  Even when we were picking an outfit for her to come home from the hospital in, my husband wanted it to be pink.  (Too bad she was too little for anything we had. haha)  I don't buy as much pink anymore because she actually looks really good in blue and yellow, but her first few months were spent in pink.  Little girls are so much fun!

ETA - All of our "baby gear" (car seat, pnp, etc.) was gender neutral.  And good thing too!  Big Smile

My SIL just had a little girl. I don't really like pink so I bought her a lot of purple and light yellow. I went to our local TJ Maxx and was able to find her a lot of stuff that was def girly but not pink.

  • I have NEVER liked the color pink (at least as an adult)  I was so against pink at first, but as I'm skimming through little girl stuff, I'm starting to warm up to it.  We won't be having a pink room, but I can see that there will be some pink stuff in it.
  • With R (before she was born), I didn't think I cared if she was dressed in pink or not.  Once she was born, I hated her wearing anything that didn't at least have pink or purple in it.  LOL

We have a TON of pink clothes.  However, I did put a stop to DH buying a pink stroller.

  • The first couple of weeks after we found it our baby was a girl, I def did a lot of PINK shopping.  I have since gotten care packages from Grandma's filled with pink clothes, so I am done shopping for now!  All of the big items are in gender neutral colors in case future babies are boys!
  • I LOVE pink but I honestly, amazingly, don't have much of it!

My nursery is going to be lavendar, moss green, and brown.  A few touches of bright pink here and there but definitely not super pink.

Most of the clothes friends have gotten me have been anything but pink!  Some blue dresses and yellow and purple.  I think my friends are steering clear of pink on purpose because they think I have too much already :).

Maybe I will be one of the first people with almost no pink?! ;)  I haven't had my showers yet so I am waiting for the inevitable!

  • I didn't think I would be completely about the pink but since I already have a boy we about 95% is pink or purple although we don't have much stuff yet since I still need to go through DS's stuff and find the gender neutral stuff.

I haven't bought any pink stuff b/c I figure other people would buy a lot of pink things. At least, they have at other showers I've been to.

This is exactly the advice that my BFF (who has a girl) gave me.  DH and I are trying to stick to it with clothes, and we're going with gender-neutral nursery decor, car seat, stroller, etc.

  • Pink has always been my favorite. We are doing pink & purple to try and mix it up. Even her room is all pink & purple with pink & purple striped walls! I can't help myself!
