Need a killer Choc. Chip Cookie recipe

DH and I are putting together a care package for his cousin in Iraq. ?DH is adamant about sending Chocolate Chip cookies for some reason. ?I told him (as he should know since he's military too) that the chocolate will melt but he doesn't care. ?Whatever. ?:) ?So I need a killer recipe for awesome cookies. ?Anyone have one?

  • Nestle Tollhouse is classic and oh so yummy.

  • Google 'New York Times Chocolate Chip Cookie"  They're epic.
  • This is the recipe I use - DH loves them :)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies (America's Test Kitchen)
    2 c plus 2 tbsp flour
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
12 Tbsp (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted & cooled until warm
    1 c brown sugar, packed
    1/2 c granulated sugar
1 large egg plus 1 yolk
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 c semisweet chocolate chips

Adjust oven racks to upper & lower-middle positions & heat oven to 325. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Whisk dry ingredients together; set aside. With electric mixer, or by hand, mix butter & sugars until thoroughly combined. Beat in egg, yolk and vanilla until combined. Add dry ingredients & beat at low speed just until combined. Stir in chips.

Roll scant 1/2 cup dough into ball. Holding dough ball in fingertips of both hands, pull into 2 equal halves. Rotate halves 90 degrees and, with jagged surfaces facing up, place formed dough onto cookie sheet, leaving ample room between each ball. Bake, reversing position of cookie sheets halfway through baking, until cookies are light golden brown and outer edges start to harden yet centers are still soft & puffy (about 17 minutes in my oven). Cool cookies on sheets until able to lift without breaking and place on wire rack to cool.

  • My mom also makes one with chips and milk choc chunks and oatmeal. I'll see if I can find it online.

Found it!  Nuts are optional, of course.

    2 c. butter
    2 c. brown sugar
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    4 c. flour
5 c. oatmeal (put sm. amts. at a time in blender until it turns to a powder)
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. baking soda
    24 oz. chocolate chips
1 (8 oz.) Hershey bar, grated
3 c. chopped nuts (any kind)
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet. Make golf-ball sized cookies. Place 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 6 minutes.

    Makes 9 dozen cookies.

  • Thanks gals! ?I like having options! ?:)

THIS IS THE BESSST and they will probably hold up well in shipping, its probably similar to a lot of the others, but the KEY is using half shortening and half butter instead of all butter. I would assume it would work with the other recipes. Try it, it makes them so much better (esp. if you have butter flavored crisco)

    stick butter or oleo

    1/2 cup crisco shortening

    3/4 c brown sugar

    3/4  c white sugar

    (cream together)

    2 eggs

    1 tsp vanilla extract

    1 tsp baking soda

    1/2 tsp salt

    beat till smooth

    2 1/4-2 1/2 c flour

    beat till blended

stir in 1/2 bag or however much choc chips

bake at 375 or so until the edges are just starting to turn brown 10-12 minutes?
