Have DH Suck on your nipples...

Advice given to me by a lactation specialist. She said that it helped your nipples to not get so sensitve once you start breast feeding the baby. Anyone else been told this? Do you find this helps/helped??

    I honestly find this repulsive due to the fact that I'm leaking colostrum everyday. Ewe.

    FI hasn't been near my boobs in weeks due to the fact that I am a leaky faucet.

    Ugh, that made me feel sick to think about.  I have to separate DH sucking from the thought of eventually BF'ing, and this does not help at all!  Gross!

    Hmm, that's interesting advice.  Nipple stimulation is supposed to be a natural labor induction method.  I wouldn't try it until you're at least full term.  Even then though I'd tell him to make sure nothing was actually coming out.  The baby needs all that colostrum!

    that's kind of gross if you think about it... then you would technically be breastfeeding your DH because aren't your boobs leaking yet??

    The idea just grosses me out. In fact, I've told DH to stay away from my nipples for as long as I will be breastfeeding.

    Yes-- They have definately been leaking but ONLY during the night. Nothing happens otherwise.

    I am usually a lurker, but had to respond to this one! I have never heard that before and would be afraid that DH would never do that during foreplay again if he got a mouthful of something unwanted.  Plus, babies suck pretty hard - one L&D nurse compared it to a vacuum being attached to your nipple.  Don't know that DH would be into that....

    I've read that the idea of "preparing" or "toughening" your nipples is total myth. If the baby is latched properly then you don' t need to have tough nipples.

    I'd get a new lactation consultant. Sounds like a quack.
