My DD is 11 months today and has only had breastmilk. I just got AF yesterday and my supply is down. I have never had to supplement so far. I am not making enough for her right now. She takes 4 5oz bottles during the day and I am coming up about an ounce to an ounce and a half short. What would you do? Would you try whole milk a little early or go ahead and try to give her some formula? I dont know what to do and it is stressing me out. Thanks
Re: XP -WWYD? Re: Breastfeeding
Call and ask her pedi.
I asked at DD's 9 month visit and her pedi said that if DD was around 11/11.5 months and I wasn't pumping enough that I could definitely supplement with whole milk. She said starting a little early is no big deal (obviously watch for any reactions). And that it would be silly to try and introduce formula at this point when we'd be starting to transition to whole milk soon anyways.
I've had to start adding a little bit of whole milk in her daycare bottles starting last week. I can't pump anything at all anymore and am relying on my freezer stash and now need a little help with whole milk. Its been going perfectly.
