Nursery Chairs

My Mom and I are starting to watch sales for a nursery glider/rocker and ottoman. I know it's early, but if we find the one we love, we want to be able to catch a good sale! Can y'all tell me your favs? I'm a FTM!

We bought a leather swivel/ rocker and love it.  Used it for both sons' nurseries and it has been in our living room for 2 yrs.

I love having leather because it is so easy to clean.  Between spit ups and diaper blow outs, we cleaned it a lot.

  • When I was pregnant with DD1 I picked out an overstuffed chair type rocker, rather than the traditional looking type.

It's gone from DD1's room to DD2's room to our room, where we still snuggle in it when needed.

    It's one like this:

    DD1 4.14.10
    DD2 8.22.13
    MMC 1.4.17 at 16w
    Expecting #3, EDD 1.29.18

  • I got a swivel recliner.  It was 100% worth whatever I paid. I still read to DS in it.

  • I went and tried a bunch out to find what was comfiest for me. I ended up going with a Dutailier glider, but if you have any baby stores near you, you should go sit in some different ones and see what style you prefer!
  • I have one very similar to what @BelhurstBride has and I love it. Both the chair and ottoman rock, which was so lovely in the early days when I would be rocking baby to sleep forever - I could put my feet up and rock. I also love laying him down on the ottoman to swaddle and now zip in his sleep sack. And I never had this in mind, but for some reason I spent most of my labour (while I was at home) leaning over the ottoman and rocking lol. So needless to say my rocking chair and ottoman is my most favourite and most used purchase. I bought it online at a price way cheaper than I could find in person, I believe from modern.com. I also found some online at Best Buy that I was considering.
  • We've bought the West Elm glider and ottoman. It was a bit pricey but so comfortable in case we end up having to spend a lot of time in it. The best is it's performance microsuede so it doesn't stain!
  • Another vote for the swivel rocker! I feel like it takes up less room in DS's room.
  • We have a dutalier glider with a footrest, no room for a footstool

  • I have a Dutailier that I bought second hand. It was the best nursery purchase because all the covers were washable, DD spit up a ton. Whatever you end up with, don't go cheap. Nothing that creaks or will make noise as you get up or move. And definitely make sure it is comfy, when your child is sick you will spend hours and hours in that chair.
  • @Aeml1985 umm, that nursery is flipping adorable. Love!
  • We have a comfy glider with no foot rest (thumbs down) and an electric lazyboy type chair.

OBSESSED with the electric recliner for the footrest and good preggo sleeping positions!

We keep it unplugged bc DS loves to play with it but I highly recommend it!
  • @magnolia305 thank you

  • We have a rocker glider (don't know the brand because we bought it used). I ended up not liking the ottoman part of it. I didn't like the angle it put my feet at. And when I rocked in it, I couldnt have my feet up because the ottoman would move at a different pace than the chair. I think this time around I'd rather use our recliner. Then I can rock or put the foot stool up to lean back. DH will probably argue with me though because he likes it and hates wasting something we paid for.
I'd just recommend really trying out any chair you are interested in, don't just go by looks!
