DS is getting flat on his right side and towards the back of his head. The pediatrician is getting worried that it is becoming more noticeable and says that we need to make him turn his head to the left when he is sleeping or in the bouncy chair. Thing is, we have tried everything we can think of and it isn't working. DS wants to sleep on the right side of his head. We have put rolled up blankets on the right side of his head, used a Boppy Noggin pillow, put toys, ceiling fan, mirrors, etc. on his left side so he will want to turn that way. We've also put a mitten on hsi right hand in hopes that he will start sucking his left hand, but he just sucks on the mitten. He has a physical therapist, but she doesn't seem very concerned with the issue. I'm at a loss as to what else to try other than duct tape. Anyone tried something different that seemed to work?
Re: Flat Head Help!
We have the exact same problem and I am waiting for therapy to call me back to get her in.
My pedi suggested that during diaper changes making sure we stretch, or turn her head a few times to keep it from becoming stiff. Also holding her, belly time, moby wrapping ,etc are all things that get the pressure off her head that he suggested were good too.
She's stubborn too.
We are having a problem with our son having a flat head on the back. At night, we have started swaddling him and using a sleep positioner to make him sleep on his side. I thought it would be a disaster, but it is working GREAT! He even slept 11 hours straight the other day using that technique.
I am alternating what side I place him on, and he looks ridiculous, but since he is swaddled (in the velcro swaddle blanket) there is not much he could do to get out of it.
