What would your advice be. I want to be proactive about this, but not pushy, I know he'll let go when he's ready.
Background - he's on Enfamil Next Step, and takes 4 bottles a day (6-8oz each). He will NOT hold his own bottle, but drinks water/juice very well from his sippy by himself. I'm thinking about asking our DCP to try 1/2 formula and 1/2 whole milk in his sippy for one of his afternoon bottles and just see what happens.
I know the night bottle will be the bedtime bottle will be the last to go ... should I start trying to push it forward a little bit BEFORE bathtime now?
Thanks for any advice!
Re: So ... how to transition from formula and bottle?
We didn't put formula in his sippy. We just put milk in it. At first, he wouldn't drink more than one or two sips, but he started drinking more within a week or two. This was at about 10-10.5 months.
He was never attached to his bottles, and actually fought them for the last 3 months, so it hasn't been a problem to just completely drop them--now that he's used to getting milk in a sippy. We're down to 1 bottle a day (the morning bottle) but will be dropping that tomorrow or Sunday when the formula can is empty.
With the formula..we started the transition about a 3 weeks ago and started mixing the 2. As of right now she is straight up milk.
She takes the sippy at home almost all of the time. Starting next week, I think we will start working on the bottle at daycare. At night time if she wakes up and wants something to drink, she gets it in her sippy cup. Hope this helps!
