Meal Ideas for queasy tummies?

I desperately need ideas for meals...anybody had any success with some bland meals that sit well?

My current favorite (even though I don't cook it) are turkey and cheese subway sandwiches (on white) with mayo, lettuce, toms, pickles, s&p, o&v.  Horrible, I know, but it seems to hit the spot and stay down.

Re: Meal Ideas for queasy tummies?

  • i dont know about whole meals, but kraft mac and cheese makes me feel better. also, nibbling on wheat thins, string cheese, and dried fruit!

  • I was actually going to say mac and cheese too. It's the only thing that I can always eat.
  • I know it's not exactly a "meal", but cereal always helps me. I eat it first thing in the morning, and then again after dinner. And sometimes when I want to eat something besides cereal, I just eat a very small bowl of cereal first, and then I'm able to eat something else. And chicken tenders with gravy and mashed potatoes. Those are REALLLLLLY good.

  • Baked potatoes are my current favorite. Depending on how I feel, I can spice it up, or just eat it with butter only.
  • Protein has REALLY helped curb nausea for hours for me.  My friends with hyperemesis told me that pasta and other carb-rich things helped them some.

Chicken salad (on bread and on salad) has really appealed to me lately.  Mac&cheese hasn't.  Applesauce and other BRAT diet things are not a bad way to go.

But really, anything that sounds appealing is ok right now.  Try to eat/drink veggies and fruits, but don't force them down if it's only going to leave you fighting to keep them down.

  • I have horrible m/s and easy mac works well. Cereal same as op said helps. BAnanas, watermelon do well. As far as cooking goes I can handle pasta whether it's with a little tomato sauce or a little butter, I can usually keep that down. I have to stay away from breads and green leafy veggies. No creamy or fried things. Even steamed rice with veggies thrown in with a little butter do okay. Mostly is the quantity of what you eat. I stick with meals that fit in a cereal bowl or saucer just eat more often.
  • animal crackers & dr. pepper almost always ease my tummy.

as for meals...  i like a big juicy cheeseburger with onion & tomato or stouffer's macaroni.

it's weird how those two things can calm the queasies, isn't it?

  • Ditto on the Mac&Cheese. ?Cottage cheese, Carrot sticks with ranch, grapes, those are all working for me. ?

    ?

Last pregnancy I craved spicy, this time its anything bland. ?OH bagels and cream cheese are ok with me too. ?NO CHICKEN - CHICKEN BAD!! I tried it twice this week cooked 2 different ways and it kicked my butt both times!

Today was my first bout of m/s. Just some dry heaving, but nonetheless, not pleasant! DH made me some scrambled eggs and toast which went down really well.

  • A hamburger from McDonald's and a bag of Cheetos saved me twice last week but I don't think that's an every time thing! I agree about the mac and cheese. Honey nut cherrios, 100 calorie pack wheat thins with cheese and?chocolate?ice cream.?

I have been eating a lot of carbs lately because it settles my stomach. Mac n' cheese, mashed potatoes, cereal... the only problem is they bind me up like there's no tomorrow. All that starch turns into cement in your GI tract.
