You girls were not kidding

I have taken the boys out three times to run a few errands, and I cannot believe the number of people staring at us or making comments, etc.  I mean, I was sort of prepared because I had read your posts about people making strange comments, and I always wondered if it was really going to be that bad.  Well, yup, it is.  Three different people have asked if they are twins.  No, they had extras at the hospital so I took one.  And he looks exactly like the other one.

I am trying to be patient because I agree that twins are a special kind of miracle and I know how lucky I am to have them.  But it is weird to know that people are staring at us all the time!  I try not to make eye contact, but I know they are looking at us and it is weird.

Anyway, you girls have been right about everything else, and this is no exception!

  • Congratulations on getting out - that is a big accomplishment, and you need a pat on the back for it!!

It does take a lot of effort - and now you have to make sure you look good too, since as you now know, people look at you a LOT and it makes it look so much better for us MoMs when you look GOOD doing it!!

Take care, good luck, and it only gets easier!

  • I must miss most of the looks since I am *focused* on getting AB&C done. The only time people talk to me is when I am waiting in line. I usually get, oh wow, they look close in age. I say, "yep, about 4 minutes apart". Then they laugh and the wife will say, "I told you they were twins, I knew it". Thankfully most people will ask their big sister what the babies names are and say the babies are so lucky to have such a great big sister :)
  • LOL! My twin sister and I got stopped ALL the time when we were little and we STILL do!

  • I know, I always feel like I'm a freak show when we go out with the babies.

I've found Walmart is the easiest place to go (and I'm not a huge Walmart fan) because there are so many freaks there people we fit in and people don't stare as much!  Sad...

  • People are less fascinated by my duo now that they're toddlers, but we still get stopped every time we step out our front door.
  • What really cracks me up is that when I dress them exactly alike, they ask if they are twins...I usually say, "what do you think?" in a nice way of course!
  • I hear you-I've been getting out a bit more with all 4 of my kids, it's a huge effort to do that, but I feel guilty keeping my older ones cooped up in the house.  And the comments are usually "I don;t know how you do it", "oh my God, look at you" or "I could never do that" b/c I usually go to a playground with them-all I do is let the older kids play while I push the twins in a stroller and give them a pacifier if they fuss.  I have a small window of opportunity to get all 4 out with the twins nap/feeding schedule and DD's naptime, but I know everyone is looking at me when I go.  I feel like a freak, but what can you do.

I dread going to the store with all 4, and really have no idea how I can do it, but I will soon-I'm getting better at getting out with all 4.  But it sure is tiring!

  • haha... dh and I took the girls for our nightly walk this evening and while walking we saw a grandpa pulling his twin grandkids (16 mo.) ?in a wagon. DH really did not want to stop and chat, but you could see the eagerness on this mans face so we stopped for a few minutes. Normally I wouldn't stop to chat, but I figure if it was another twin family might as well.?

It doesn't get better. I hate going places with my mom and my aunt. They're almost 60 and still get "OMG, are you guys TWINS???" I roll my eyes, point to my aunt and say, "No, she's the stunt double."
