I HATE the word/term "Prego"!!-vent

My brother keeps saying it and I have heard others say it too. I am taking offense to this. I don't know why I am so sensitive about it but every time I hear it I want to scream... When people say it I correct them nicely ("no, I prefer pregant")

I am very sensitive right now about a lot of things; I almost have no patients!Hormones...

It's like they think its a dirty word or something...
  • Eh, it doesn't really bother me.  It is just a word, and not everyone uses it.
  • It doesn't make me murderous or anything, but I do prefer pregnant.

  • Yeah my brothers call me prego and my former male co-workers used to call me that too. I told every single one of them that I wasn't afraid to kick their a$$
  • exactly! Like if they say it, it's some curse that will happen to them! Oh it is just so frustrating! One of my friends asked me yesterday if I was "preggers" and I said, "you mean PREGNANT? Yeah, I am PREGNANT" Grrrrrrrr.........

  • I'll admit, I was guilty of it up until a few weeks ago... Then I started to appreciate the term pregnancy, and realized that the prego/preggers thing isn't all that cute. Guess it was getting into my own pregnancy that did it? But I agree, just say pregnant!
  • IMO when people use the word "preggo" they just sound uneducated or ignorant. Yeah, that might be harsh of me to say, but that's just my opinion.

  • I heard someone say "preggie" once. I think that is almost even worse. I almost threw up.

I really don't care either way. People abbreviate and nickname things all of the time and there's nothing that I can do about it.

  • There are way more offensive things one could call a pregnant woman, like Fat Cow. I'd have a problem with that.

I don't get all upset about Prego or Preggers.

    -Sincerely, the Pregtard

    ?

I agree with you. ?I don't know why it conjures up that idea for me too, but it does. ?I hate the words preggo/preggers. ?

And little cutesy nicknames don't usually bother me... I say diapees to Layla.. and stuff like that, but prego and preggers make me unhinged. ?

  • Yet another thing that doesn't really bother me. It's not worth being annoyed over.

That. Was. Awesome. I am totally stealing it. LMAO!

  • It's interesting to me how fired up people get about it.  I don't really mind any of those names, then again I've yet to be called one.  I feel 'meh' about it.  To me it's like people calling a vulva:  vag, va-jay-jay, girlybits, etc.
  • On the topic of other "cutesy" words, it bugs the heck out of me that my friend never uses the word bottle.  Even to other adults, she refers to them as "baba's"  WHAT?

  • LOL... the funny part is "Prego" and "Preggers" started in chat rooms and boards because people couldn't spell "pregnant."  I must say the terms have always bothered me.
