Hoping you girls can help- I'm trying to decide which bottles to register for. The 3 I'm considering are Avent (which I hear leak), Dr.Brown's (expensive and a bear to clean), and Playtex drop ins ("they're just okay"). I plan to BF but will eventually pump when I go back to work- I've heard you can pump into the drop ins bag? Any advice? TIA!
Re: Bottles?
I tried the drop-ins, but they didn't work for my DS at all!!!! I don't know what the problem was, but he was gulping it all in and not swallowing enough and then he would choke.
We switched to Dr. Browns, and they are AWESOME!!!! They really aren't hard to clean either. I thought they would be, but they come apart easily. AND you don't have to buy the expensive drop-in bags. IMO, I'd go with the Dr. Browns.
Honestly it will depend on your baby. We used all three, DS took them with no problem. Some BF babies have problems taking bottles or switching back and forth. You'll want a bottle with a wide mouth nipple so that it mimics BFing and use a slow flow nipple when he's BFing and bottle feeding. My experience is that Dr. Brown's made DS gassier, Drop Ins were fine, but I didn't want to have to keep buying the liners. We use Avent. This blog will show you a trick to putting the lids on so that they don't leak. We still get a leaky bottle occassionally, but it's not that bad.

We rinsed and recycled the liners when we used them.
