question about carseat and airplane?

when you checked your carseat, did you just hand it to them- or did you box it up? ?I cannot figure out what to do- should i just put a trash bag over it?

and what about stroller- do you just hand it to them right as you are getting on plane? ?

we have flown before but did not take carseat/stroller so this will be a new adventure?

Re: question about carseat and airplane?

  • We did the carseat in the stroller frame to the plane.  Two claim checks for them, and I didn't box or bag either item.  It worked well, but I wasn't super concerned about the condition in which I got them back.

  • I am an FA for united, most people would gate check their stroller so it would be right there when they got off the plane. I think that's your best bet... the fa's can give you a claim ticket right as you are getting on the plane!

You can gate check your stroller at the gate.  Drop it off at the end of the jetway and pick up in the jetway when you arrive.

As for the carseat, you can do the same thing as the stroller.  Or you can carry it on the plane and use it if there is a seat available (for free).

If you check the car seat at the ticket counter or the curb, they do have big plastic bags to wrap it up in if you want.
