When do you think is a good time for DC's first swim? Will the chlorine be harsh on his skin? High where I live is 101 today & that pool is looking mighty nice....

    Does he have especially sensitive skin? It seems like it couldn't hurt to try briefly--maybe just waist down and see how it goes?

    I am actually buying a small kiddie pool this weekend for her to use in the mornings and evenings.  I did ask my pedi yesterday about sunscreen (thought maybe it was ok to use earlier than 6 months since we live in Florida) but she said no.  So now I am looking for a wetsuit type bathing suit since we can't use sunscreen.

    We just took LO (2 months old) into the pool twice this week while at the beach. We didn't let him stay in there too long and gave him a good bath afterwards, but he had no problems at all. He loved it!!

    I find all of this stuff so confusing.  I asked my pedi and she said that they changed that ruling.  Sunscreen is better than getting a sunburn.

    OP:  I would test it out, but rinse your baby afterwards.  DS has sensitive skin so I know whenever we go in a pool I need to wash him.

    Our pedi said you can definitely use sunscreen before 6 months old now. It's way more important to make sure they don't get burned. That said I only used it on his legs, feet and belly and back (eventhough I had a longsleeve swimshirt on him, it would ride up).  Did not put it on his hands or his face - just put a hat on him...  I think the bigger thing is just not letting them stay out in the sun too long.  But all pedis are different but I've heard several say it is okay to use sunscreen.  Oh and just make sure to give them a good bath and get it off afterwards.
