What is your bedtime routine?

And please post times if you wouldn't mind too! I know it *sounds* easy but our routine sucks. We start with a bath and then either read a book or nurse. When we read first, DS tends to start getting fussy but when we nurse first he falls asleep eating which I don't necessarily want him to do. Last night, I fed him, he was drowsy, I handed him over to DH to put down and then he very strongly objected to sleepytime -- and stayed awake another hour.

  • 7:30 bath

    7:45 book

    8:00 Oatmeal and bottle

    8:15-8:30 bed

  • I start the bedtime routine anytime between 8 and 8:30.  Oh, we don't do a bath as part because it wakes DD up more.  Baths are done during the day sometime.

Turn lights down, turn noises (tv, radio, etc) down, change DD's diaper and put in pjs, nurse on both sides, put into bed, cover with blanket, kiss on the head, say "I love you baby girl", turn on night light and radio in her room, close door.

I'm going to add read a book in there before nursing soon.

  • IT depends on her and if she took a late afternoon nap or not what time bedtime is. Yesterday she was up at 3 and then only took about a 15 minute nap around 5 so 7:00 was bedtime.

Usually though, she sleeps until about 6 for her last nap. So I feed her after that nap.  I let her play and then my husband does bathtime around 7. She plays a little longer then around 7:30 or earlier if she seems tired or fussy, I nurse her again or we give a bottle.  Once she starts to drift off, I pop a binkhy in her mouth and rock her a few minutes then put her down. Usually she's passed out when I put her down and stays out. Sometimes she wakes up about 30-45 minutes later so I leave her and she goes back to sleep on her own. Sometimes it involves her crying but she gets back to sleep in about 10-30 minutes and sleeps through the night.

  • I guess I kind of have to start with the last nap of the day... ?

It's a variable time, but usually DS wakes up from his last nap between 3:45 and 4:30. ?He'll eat then (BF). ?

If he wakes up at 3:45, then bed time is usually 6:45. ?If he wakes up at 4:30, then bedtime is usually between 7:15 and 7:30. ?So, you get the idea...about 3 hrs after his last nap he goes to bed.

    So, here goes.

4:00 pm - BF after he wakes from nap

    5:50 pm - Oatmeal

    6:20 pm - bath time

6:30 pm - to the bedroom - diaper, lotion/massage, giggle time b/c he tries to eat his feet

6:40 pm - hand off to daddy for a couple of minutes in the rocker (usually not too long b/c he's "hungry" and tired)?

6:45 pm - BF (keeping him awake while doing it...acting silly and such)

6:55 pm - burp, say good night to daddy

7:00 pm - bed time - lay down awake?

    HTH! Smile?

  • Bath time is between 7:00 & 7:30.  My husband and I both give him a bath together.  My husband said that giving him a bath is one of the highlights of his day.  J

Between 7:30 & 8:00 we get him dressed for bed, we love & kiss on ds and we talk to him about his day.

Then I bf him between 8:00 & 8:30 and then he falls asleep on the boob (I am trying to stop this, but I can?t seem to break the habit).  Before he falls a sleep, I tell him a story, but would love to add story time with a book soon.

He is totally zonked out by 9:00 and then sleeps until 6:00 or 6:30 in the morning.

We feed at 9:00 and to bed at 9:30.  It usually takes her 15-20 minutes to fall asleep.  We don't do baths at night.  They are usually in the morning or after a poop blow out.
