Betas and twins (SAIFW)

Just curious.  I know its hard to tell but a few people have said my numbers are high and maybe its twins...epphd, you got me thinking too.  Betas are in siggie.  I know my numbers are very close to nolachicks who is havnig twins...so weird, at this point, not only will I not know the sex yet but I dont even know how many I am carrying, haha.

Re: Betas and twins (SAIFW)

  • Side note, I always thought my numbers would be much higher for twins.  I have been convinced its one.  Though others have said my numbers are high and maybe twins. I know only u/s can tell but its fun to guess.  I put my numbers in baby med's calculator and mine were above average for singelton....hmmm

  • I'm very curious as well!  Mine was 476 at 14dp3dt.  I don't get my second one until 5/7.
  • Everyone tells me that as well. So I have been comparing my numbers to singlton and twin numbers and what I found is that there is just no way to be sure. Numbers seem to be all over the place for both. One more week till I find out!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • Hi -

I'm having twins and my betas were:

    7dp5dt - 288

    10dp5dt - 1280

    12dp5dt - 2649

  • My beta were higher for a singleton pg according to baby med.com, and I did have 3 maybe 4 follies at trigger time,  but we'll see! One or two...doesnt matter to me, I just want a healthy baby!! Mine are in my siggy.

  • In my experience it's not so much the numbers as the numbers + doubling time. W/ yours more than doubling and being high I'd say there's a good chance you've got 2 in there.

    Either way h&h 9 months

  • Well I guess the few of us wondering with higher betas will get our answers next week or so.  GL to everyone =) I will be looking out to see the results and will be happy with at least one nice heartbeat!
  • Mine are in my signature. My RE was certain it was multiples, and thought more than twins. However, I've heard that progesterone is a better indicator. Congrats on the strong Betas!
  • Well I just had my first beta and it was 509.  I was told that it could mean multiplies but not always.
  • I know how you feel!  When I got my first beta at 14dpo, it was 862, then 3509 a few days later!  Everyone was screaming twins at me, but it's just a singleton.  The high numbers can mean multiples or my RE's office said a good pregnancy!  Either way, Congrats!  :)

  • That's a good way to think of it goldengirl, a healthy pregnancy.  I really don't care whether its twins or just one, I just want a healthy baby. My RE never mentioned multiples and like i said, I have felt all along its one, but we will see.
