Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Taking baby to movie theater?

My husband and I are desperate to go to the theater, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. ?My daughter will be 8 weeks Weds (already! ?I can't believe it!), and I'm wondering if anyone knows if the noise can be harmful?

?Anyone does this?

?We're already planning on going in the afternoon to avoid as many people as possible... for germs and enjoyment sake.?

It is too loud. Get a sitter or go to a Mom movie where the volume is lower and babies are welcome.

I did forget, you can use earplugs for LO.

  • If she cries, PLEASE take her out.

I hate when people take a baby to an adult movie, regardless of the showtime, and then allow him/her to cry throughout the movie.

Can you get a babysitter for a few hours?

  • I think it's fine.  Do it now while you can - in a few months, DD will be too active to take to a movie.  Now, you can probably get her to sleep through the whole thing!

  • I think it is WAY too loud for a baby's little ears.

  • Not only is it too loud, but I am sure it will annoy/bother almost everyone else in the theater unless she sleeps silently throughout.

  • I remember going to a movie while pregnant and being worried that it was too loud for the baby; I definitely wouldn't take her without ear protection now!  Regardless of the noise factor, I wouldn't take her to a movie ~ there's just no way she'd be quiet the whole time.
  • See if there is a Movies for Moms at your local theater. Ours has them on Monday afternoons. I went to a couple on maternity leave and it was great as the lights were on low, volumes were down and no one minded little squeaks. Plus if I needed to get up and bounce DS I could.
