Heard the HB with a doppler =)

in 1st Trimester
So I'm 9 weeks tomorrow. I went to the OB because of slight cramping and spotting. Everything's looking great, and we heard the baby's heartbeat with a doppler. The OB said rarely can you hear it this early, it usually takes about another week so we were happy when he found it. I asked how fast it was, and he said "Fast, it's a girl." So much for exact measurements Big Smile

    Isn't hearing the hb the best!! I totally cried when I heard our baby for the first time! I could have listened to it for hours!

    Wow, I'm surprised he said "It's a girl!" I think most doctors think using heart rate to predict gender is an old wives' tale...although it WAS true for both my DD and DS!

    I'm glad everything looks good. I heard the heartbeat on a Doppler at my appointment last week, and the midwife told me that once you hear it, your chance of miscarriage is less than 1 percent. I was happy to hear that!

    I think he was more kidding about the girl part than anything else. But my OB's pretty out there. He's great, knows what he's doing, but sometimes I think he's from Mars or something.

    oh i cant wait to hear the HB! we saw it today with our first U/S, but go back in 3 weeks to actually hear it!! congrats on yours!!
