3rd Tri Ladies - Travel ? for you

So my work has planned this little day trip outing next week. We will be outside all afternoon/evening (it is starting to get hot in NC/SC) at a tailgate and baseball game. Driving little over 2 hrs to our destination and then little over 2 hrs home. Won't get home til nearly midnight. Here's my issue...the dr. expects me to go early b/c baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead. Baby has dropped and I am ultra uncomfortable, tired, peeing all the time, etc. I think they expect me to/want me to unless the dr. says otherwise. I will ask at my appt tomorrow. But what do you think? Would you go or feel comfortable traveling that distance 4-5 weeks out if you were in my situation? I feel bad b/c I have already started mentally checking out of work and I'm in a tough situation with a new boss (she isn't my #1 fan). TIA!!!

  • I'd back out and stay close to home....they'll be more opportunities for outings later on if you are going back to work.

Hmm, That's a tough one.  I would ask your Dr and see what he/she says and go from there.  if they say it's not ok, than that's the end of it.  If they say it's ok, than I would have to do some serious thinking.  CHances are if your dr thinks it's ok, you should be fine.  Whether you would be comfortable or not, that would be another question.  And if you do go, say that you have to have access to a/c and water/food at all times.

  • Hey Lauren!  I would try to stay closer to home if it's not absolutely essential for you to attend this even.  Also, I tend to get more tired these days and a 2 hour car ride home might be a bit dicey if you do go into labor soon.  But I tend to be more on the conservative side with these things.  Good luck with your decision!
  • I wouldn't feel comfortable traveling that far away if I were in your position. Sorry hun, it sucks missing out on the fun stuff!

Even if I wasn't high risk with PTL issues my doc doesn't like you to travel outside 2 hours away from the hospital after 30 weeks. And with my issues I'm not allowed to travel further then an hour away. Personally I wouldn't do it.
