Old Wives Tale: Girls Making You Sick?

I'm just curious if this old wives tale has held true for any of you. Anyone been pregnant with a girl and been super sick or have both a girl and boy and had more sickness with the girl?

I know it's just an old wives tale, but it held true in my family, girls made my sisters have more morning sickness, so I wanted to know if it held true outside my family.

I've not hardly been sick at all with my baby, so I'll be interested to see which sex Baby C is (still have about 9 weeks of waiting).

Re: Old Wives Tale: Girls Making You Sick?

  • My mom had two girls and she said she didnt get sick very much and when she did it was only in the mornings

  • well if this is true then it goes with my freaky baby girl dreams...which means its a girl for me...
  • When my Mom was pregnant w/ me she had NO morning sickness. I'm having a boy & I've also had NO morning sickness. I got off very lucky, I'm so thankful. So personally, I can't answer your question, but as far as the having girls, all I can say is that Mom didn't have it w/ me.

OWT are exactly that, just OWT. My babys heart beat was also above 150 which they say will be a girl according to OWT, but he is most definitely a boy, confirmed twice.

  • My sister was sick her entire pregnancy with 2 boys
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

  • My sister and mother both had girls and never felt sick.  My mother in law had two boys and a girl, and only got sick with one boy.    I don't think it has anything to do with the sex...just my opinion though.
  • With DD I didn't get sick very much (maybe really sick like a total of 6 times).  But more than I have been with this one.  So who knows.
  • i'm having a girl and didn't have any m/s - some nausea here and there, but that was it.  everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.......
  • my first pregnancy was super easy at the beginning... only the slightest bit of nausea, that's it... I had a girl.  My symptoms are pretty much the same this time, but I'm not necessarily taking that to mean that I am having another girl.

My cousin had it easy with her first, and she's currently pregnant with her 2nd and everything has gone the complete opposite for her the 2nd time around.

They are all OWT's for a reason :)

  • My first to pregnancies were IDENTICAL, right down to the complications at the end.  The ONLY thing that was different was they way I carried.  I had the same amount of nausea with both and I have one of each.

  • I just heard another great old wives tale a few days ago about gaining more weight with girls than boys.  Cause sure...all those potato chips create girl genes!

  • My mom didn't get sick once with either my brother and I,

My SIL was sick her entire 9 months with all of her boys.

  • I puked almost constantly from weeks 4 through 15 with DS. Not true.
  • I heard that it was boys that made pregnant women sick.
  • My cousin was super sick up until 20 weeks....she is having a boy.
