Would you spend $140 on a diaper bag?

I wanted a new diaper bag for when the new baby arrives. I wanted one that also looks like a purse and not so much a diaper bag. I saw one online it's a storksak shoulder diaper bag- Emily in bronze. The black & brown one's are $175 but the bronze (which I love) is on sale for $140. Am I crazy? What am I thinking? Dh would kill me if I spent that much on a diaper bag. But it's exactly what I was looking for. Would you spend that much on a diaper bag? thanks

  • Yes, I would... err... I will (more than that actually).

  • Yes, I would if I loved it.

  • I got a really good deal on my diaper bag and it still cost a little more then $140.  So yes I would.

  • No. But fancy purses aren't my thing. I am looking for function (does it carry stuff) and is it cheap...
  • Yes, if it is nice.  Does it have a changing pad?  An insulated compartment for bottles?  Plenty of inside pockets and pockets that are lined in case something spills.  I have found the Oi Oi bags have a ton a features that I love.  I am not even thinking twice about spending over $100 on it.

  • I wouldn't but I like to save money where I can and I have never spent much on a purse however my MIL bought me a coach bag that is the only way I would own one.  We also don't have the largest income enough to be ok but not enough to send extra money on a diaper bag.  However if you really want it and have the extra money go for it.
  • I'm spending around $1,000.00 thanks to Mr.GrandMe introducing me to Mia Bossi, so $140 seems like nothing! haha
  • yes I would....I would spend more.
  • Probably not <<unless>> I really, really, really, loved it.  For 140 bucks it had either  better change the baby for me or make me look so beyond hot that that it isn't even funny.... Also, it had damn well be leather or suede.  I'm not paying that much for wipeable vinyl!!
  • The practical side of me says No way in hell.

This says the practical new mom coveting a $200 diaper bag as well.

If you want it I say do it. I think I'm going to get mine. I bought everything used/discounted with the exception of the carseat so this may be my one splurge..lol.

  • Probably not.  DH wouldn't care if I did - he's tried on more than one occasion to get me to spend more money on purses if he thinks I'm settled for a less expensive one - I just don't feel a need to do so.  I will probably purchase one off Etsy. I almost bought a large Betsey Johnson bag to use as a diaper bag, but I want insulated bottle doodads and whatnot. Then again, I may see one that I absolutely must have tomorrow that costs more than that and change my tune.
  • if i really liked it def.  i would even spend more.

  • If I really loved it I would.
  • I wouldn't.  But I don't have the cash to spend that much on anything. I will likely get one at Walmart.  As long as it holds diapers, etc. it works for me.

  • I would not spend that much. But, I probably have a lot less money than you, so get what makes you happy ;)

  • No, but I wouldn't spend $140 on a bag for myself either.

  • Yes, if I loved it. I keep bags forever. Think about the Cost Per Use - totally worth it!

  • Hell no.

  • Will I? Heck no.

Would I like the ability to be able to? Absolutely.

  • Yes, but I'm a bag whore ... With DH we each have our "thing" we spend money on - mine is shoes and bags, his is watches. We raise eyebrows at each other's purchases, but as long as the bills get paid we don't say anything ...
  • This topic again?

    Me, no.
But, I have my own splurges instead.

  • Yes. I have both a Coach and a Kate Spade diaper bag (though 1 was a gift and the other I used a GC for 1/2 of it..). I'm a total purse person though and diaper bags are replacing my regular bag obsession for these years ;) If you can comfortably afford it, then why not :)

I'm the same way.  I used to sell designer purses (Fendi, Gucci, Prada) and it was insane to see the 200-300% markup we would add to the price and ladies would still buy it!   Here is my diaper bag :

  • I work in fashion, so I always have a designer bag. I get a new one every few years and they are usually around $2000... so, if I am going to carry this diaper bag a LOT around the city, then I will most likely spend at least that much.

However, if I lived out in the country or suburbs and wasn't in the line of work that I am in, then probably not.?

  • not in our current financial situation. at another time, yes.

    Yes

I am pretty frugal as well but like what was said here, if you want it, then go for it!

  • Yes I got a coach one..with 2 matching little purses to go inside and a coach key chain of the baby's first letter of there name..(My Fiance got it for me as gift so I guess I didn't really but I would!)
  • I would and I did. I bought the same bag in black.  The reason I got black was because I heard the gold and silver one sometimes flaked.  The finish on the bag to make it shiney came off.  The black one does not have that same finish.  Hope that helps.  I can't wait to use mine.
  • I wouldn't.  I am more of the bargain hunter than the just buy it type.  I found my $175 Posh Baby bag on ULTRA clearance for $45 after tax & shipping.

May I say I think you are totally nuts?!?  Even most Mia Bossi bags are less than $400.   I will probably spend at least $100, maybe more, but that's b/c I can afford it.  And mine may be a gift from DH for my b-day.

  • no way no how. at most i might spend $60, but i doubt i will even spend that much.

  • Yup.  I bought one a month ago and spent more than $140.

  • I got a Burberry bag for $700, but thankfully my mom bought it for me. Truth be told, I would have ended up getting it for myself.

DH's favourite line is that "It's easier to ask for forgiveness then it is permission".

  • Yes definitely without a doubt-especially if it is the one you love!  I mean think about it it's going to be like your purse and you would definitley spend at 5 times that on a purse you really loved.  My theory is if i cannot afford it i don't deserve it so i wouldn't go into debt to get a non essential item, but if you have the cash for it got for it and just don't tell DH how much it was, and i'm sure he will never ask!

  • I most definitely would not. ?I like nice stuff, but I wouldn't be able to justify it....esp. with all the other baby expenses. ?I probably won't spend more than 30 bucks. ?
