S/O: on kissing - hugging?

Does your DC ever not want to hug you goodbye?

Do you still try to sneak in a hug anyway?  The previous post made me think about this.

Some mornings I ask DD if I can have a hug goodbye and she says 'no, don't leave', I have to leave, so I try to sneak a hug anyway :)

I see that as different than forcing your child to kiss them.  Am I wrong?

  • I think that's fine. It would be like if you kissed her on top of the head or something. One way affection as opposed to forcing mutual affection.

  • I think its fine. I hold B down and smother her with kisses. She's great at giving hugs and kisses but I assume the 100x's a day I request them gets old.

  • I never ask my kids if they want a hug or a kiss! I just plant one on them anyway:) BTW: This is VERY emabarrassing for my 11 year old DD and 7 year old son when I'm dropping them off at school. But I give them a quick kiss and hug before they even get out of the car, so it's not like all their peers are watching...I'm sure their moms do the same thing)

Ditto this.  I just grab DS in a big bear hug and smother him in kisses.  He loves it!  At least he giggles when I do it anyway!
