shoveling food and puree preference?

She has the pincher grasp but doesn't use it.  She grabs a handful of cheerios and put the whole hand to her mouth adn attempts to get one in that way.  is this normal?  even when she just goes after one thing, she uses her thumb adn the side of her finger and then gets it close adn mashes it into her mouth.  do we need more practice?

also - she eats our food off of our plates all the time - off of our forks.  so she is fine with big people food.  but if i put it on her highchair for her to do herself, she doesn't eat much of it.  does she prefer purees?  does she prefer for us to feed her the big food?

anyone have similar experiences or tips?

Re: shoveling food and puree preference?

  • LOL yeah DS likes to shovel entire handfuls of puffs into his mouth, it kind makes me LOL  Wink

DS can eat some table foods but still prefers us to feed him, in fact he doesn't much care if it si puree or table food it is more the action of us feeding him that he prefers.

  • we are trying to get DS to get used to picking up food with his thumb and index finger. the littel stinker instead of grabbing the food will grab your hand and pull it towards his mouth.

maybe she sees the chair as baby food and sitting with you are big people food
