Trying to Get Pregnant

Question for anyone...

Just curious if there are any ladies out there that have started their family while still in school?  I want to go back and get my masters degree (peds nurse practitioner), but i am only going to go to school part time and work full time.  I am a pretty dedicated person, and I fell like I could do it, I jsut wanted to get the opinions of anyone who might have done this (or is doing this).  TIA

Re: Question for anyone...

  • I'm a SAHM but my DH works full time then goes to law school at night.  It works for us because I cook, clean and take care of DS.  It's not easy on our family and certainly not easy on him but it is possible.  You'll never know unless you try but make sure your priorities are set in stone before you start.  GL!

  • well we haven't gotten pregnant yet, however we are actively TTC and I am in school full time. some people don't think its the best time, but every one is different. for my husband and i this is a good time. i'm very organized and my school schedule is pretty flexible such as class times and what not. so that will all work out, and as for daycare my aunt runs a daycare so daycare is free for us when we do have kids. my husband and i know it will be hard, but if you want to start a family and you know you can do it then, go for it!
  • I'm in grad school full time now.

Whenever it happens I will just take a semester break.

Some people have negative opinions on our plan, but frankly--it works for us, and I don't have a problem telling people to mind their business! lol.

    ?

  • I say go for it! ?You'll be making things easier on your family in the long run (financially) if you go on to a MA program. ?You sound determined! ?Good Luck!
  • Thanks for all your advice ladies!  I really appreciate it!  I haven't told my family that we are actively TTC at this point because i know what the reaction will be, they will try to tell us we are not ready and my mom thinks that I will not go back to school.  I know that I will go back and that I can do it if I really want to.  DH and I are ready to start our family and he is really supportive with my decision to go back to school, however, financially I still have to work FT.  My mom really wants me to go back to school to get my masters (and so do I) but my thing is that she seems content with my older sister having an associates degree.  Families are frustrating!Tongue Tied

    OK vent over...Thanks for listening!

  • Well I am not in school anymore, I am a 1st grade teacher.  But DH is still in school, he's 4 years younger than me.  If he gets into the Physical Therapy Asst. program (crossing our fingers) then he will be done next September, so I figure thats close enough.  :)  I do know my mom went back to school when I was 5.  It was hard for her she worked 40 hours a week, had me and my brother, and went to school at night.  But she did it and got her teaching credential.  Anything's possible if you put your mind to it!  GL!
