Second and Third Time Moms - baby movement

When did you start feeling THIS pregnancy?

I am still overanalyzing not feeling the baby yet and can't find the HB on the doppler. I was at the diabetes clinic yesterday but it was so rushed that they couldn't use the doppler on me. Boo. I just don't feel like there is a RATIONAL reason to be worried which is why I am not going in. Still worried though. So would love to know your experiences.

Re: Second and Third Time Moms - baby movement

  • With my first, I didn't feel movement until about 20-21 weeks. With this baby I still haven't felt movement yet at 16 weeks

  • I didn't start feeling the baby until 14 weeks 6 days with this pregnancy and it's barely anything and not often (my second) but I also started feeling my DD super early at 16 weeks with my first. Every pregnancy is different I've heard plenty of people not feeling their second until the same time as their first. Some say that happens with boys.
  • I can't remember with my first, maybe around 20 weeks? With this one, I started feeling those "was that just....??" taps at 16 weeks, but now that I'm halfway through 18 weeks I'm definitely getting some good strong kicks and rolls.

I *think* I've felt some small flutters already but I'm still not 100% sure. I just don't feel like I'm ever paying that much attention because I'm always busy.

edit: I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow.

  • My first I started feeling at 20 weeks. I am 17 weeks tomorrow and can't yet tell if I am feeling movement or if I am imagining it still. Both pregnancies I have had an anterior placenta.

I'm 15 weeks now, and there are some times over the past week where I think I MAY have felt something (that wasn't followed by gas, haha), but I don't know if I trust it or not. Thinking of it as movement would just make me worry more though, because it's inconsistent obviously. I prefer to think of it as something else at this point. :))

I did feel DD fairly early last pregnancy (18-19 weeks or so) despite having an anterior placenta.

  • I felt the baby for the first time last week, so I was about 16 weeks.

It seems I'm more "in tune" with this pregnancy since I've done this twice before. I just know what everything is supposed to feel like for me and my body. So things are more easy to identify.

For instance, at my last appt. I told my doctor about some aches and pains around my abdomen when she asked me if I had any cramping. She was a little concerned, but I KNEW it was just RLP because I know what that feels like.

  • I felt my first at 18 weeks, my second at 16 weeks, and still haven't felt this one for sure and I'm 14w2d. I have a super active stomach so I'm always feeling stuff going on, just not a "that's definitely baby" moment yet.

  • My first i think i felt him around 20 weeks. This time i felt my first "no doubt about it" nudge right when i turned 15 weeks. I felt flutters before that but wasnt positive until 15 weeks. Now i usually feel something once a day.

However i know some women dont feel anything their second time around for ahwile for various reasons. Try to relax!

  • This is my second pregnancy I felt baby at about 14 weeks. I am now 18 weeks (tomorrow) and feel baby everyday. Keep your head up! You will feel baby soon!
  • With my first I didn't really feel anything until around 17-18 weeks. I am 15 weeks now and a few times I though maybe I felt something but am not certain. I can't wait to start feeling the daily movement, I used to love sitting in the recliner with a book or something on my stomach and watching baby move it around!

  • Both pregnancies I have/had an anterior placenta. With this one I'm 18 weeks and the past day or two I think I'm feeling something more strong than a flutter but as soon as I try to pay attention, it stops. Maybe it's in my head.

  • I felt my first at around 20 weeks, but this time I was sure I felt it closer to 15 weeks.  Now that I am closer to 17 weeks, I hardly feel anything anymore, so I wonder if it was all in my head?

    Same here
  • I'm just barely feeling little things here and there, but I have an anterior placenta so it's going to be a while before I feel regular movement.  I felt kicks MUCH earlier with my son.

  • I didn't feel anything until after 20 weeks with my first - I had an anterior placenta.
I am wondering if I have that again since I am now 18 weeks and still haven't felt anything :(

I know how you feel though.  I have my anatomy scan on Friday and am starting to feel nervous because of lack of movement!

  • 1st pregnancy I felt movement at 17 weeks. Nothing yet, but I felt something I thought might be the baby moving the last couple of days. I think it's just gas though.  It will come soon though.  I am not going to worry about it and try to focus on getting ready for the baby's arrival b/c it will be here before we know it!
