Ladies with DCs with Curly Hair

Do you plan to cut it, how are you styling it? For girls are you letting it grow long? I am not sure how to fix it it always looks messy to me, but I am a perfectionist.

Re: Ladies with DCs with Curly Hair

  • I am wondering how DS hair is going ot come out. I have really curly hair and before he started getting more hair DS's roots all showed signs of curly hair. It is sitting flat right now but as it gets longer we'll have to see.

  • DD has curly hair. I am letting it grow, although I have trimmed the ends twice. It is about 3 inches past her shoulders when wet but shrinks up alot because of her curls when dry. No bangs! I usually giver her a ponytail or bun, pigtails, or a cute headband. I used to pull the sides and top back into a half ponytail but it started to shape her hair funny, so we nixed that style.
  • DS's poor hair is going to be curly/frizzy like mine!!  It is cute right now, but we will cut it once it starts getting out of control.
  • well aidan has not had a haircut at over 2. it would poof out if i cut it. i just got bedhead's curls rock - and put it in when its wet. i comb it out and re-wet it every morning, too. you have to relax with it though. bc the more hair she gets - the harder it is to manage. its why i pick my battles - and if we are staying home all day then i just wont do it.
  • Oh Good! So its only going to get worst! Punk YGPM

  • My DS's hair is crazy and curly. I just let it be. I will think about cutting it when he's 1, but for now it just grows up, so no need for me to cut it. imageimage
  • Oh yeah. We have to wet DD's in the morning and before we leave the house if we go anywhere. It gets a bit frizzy. I have to use conditioner on her hair at bathtime. And she hates it in her face so it is up alot.
  • HisWife, DD has super long hair in the back too, and I've considered trimming and inch or two off b/c it gets SO tangled during the day with her rolling around, etc.  So you just did it yourself?

  • DS's hair is a mix right now, it's straight on the top, but the sides & back are curly.  I'm torn, the curls are adorable, but I would kinda like his hair to be consistant.  I wouldn't mind cutting the back, it looks like a puffball sometimes.

  • I still haven't cut DS's hair yet. It just keeps getting bigger and rounder not longer down his neck or over his ears or in his eyes so I'm leaving it for now. I just learned that I shouldn't be brushing it especially when dry so I got a big tooth comb and now I only comb it when it's wet. I've been putting a leave-in conditioner in it, and it's looking less frizzy and wild. KGSky on Toddlers 12-24 has a blog for "fro babies" that has a lot of good info.

  • Neither of my kids got my wavy/curly hair but I'll talk from experience.  If it's a girl, and her hair is not super duper kinky, then just grow it long. My mom had my hair down to my waist growing up, and it always looked really nice.  I have more wavy hair that curls at the bottom though. All she would do was wash it, comb it out with a wide tooth comb, and then dry it with a blow dryer like twice a week and it looked really good. When the weather was warmer she'd just let it air dry. Something about the weight from long hair makes it less crazy curly and more pretty curly, if that makes sense. Also, leave in conditioner is a curly haired lady's best friend.  I use the spray on kind and it's WONDERFUL.
