What could've caused emergency c-sect. 9 weeks early?

I just got a text from a friend that his wife had an emergency c section nine weeks early. What could have happened to cause doctors to want to have taken the baby so early? I'm wracking my brain. Any ideas?

  • My SIL had an emergency c/s at 32 weeks because her placenta ruptured.

  • pree, eclampsia, hellp, prom, placental abruption,

    hope all are ok.  prayers.

  • My daughter was delivered 8 weeks early due to a heart arrythmia and my preeclampsia, but it could be anything.  The good news is that babies born at 31 weeks can do really well! My daughter is going to be two next month and you would never know what she went through!  Try to focus on the positive such as that they caught something and acted immediately.  Good luck - keeping you all in my thoughts!
  • I had an emer c-section 5 weeks early due to at placental abruptionn issues at 29 weeks and a very, very stuck baby -- heart rate disappeared entirely. There could be a lot of reasons -- cord issues, etc.
  • HELLP, Pre-E.

    Glad they're okay!
