Trying to Get Pregnant

Questions on charting.

Alrighty, this is my first cycle to chart and I want to clear a few things up. TCOYF is on it's way to me, but in the eantime....

1. How important is it that you stay in bed to take your temp? I also wake up a bit all night, so does that mess things up? - My tremp this morning was 98.13, does that seem high?

2. Are you suppoed to BD when your temp spikes? Is that the expected O date?

3. - I think there are only those two for now.

TIA!

Until your book arrives, I'd do some research online. You have a lot to learn.

1- yes you need to stay in bed, yes waking up at night might mess things up (if you get less than 3 consecutive hours of sleep), everyone's temps are different

2- no, when your temp spikes you have already O'd and it is too late

  • If you use www.fertilityfriend.com you can get a lot of anwsers from their site.  Getting out of bed before temping will raise your temp.  You will figure out as you go if waking affects your temp.  For me, my temp is only affected if I wake within the two hours before my temp time.   Once your temp spikes you are past your O date.  OPKs and cervical mucus will help you time sex.

You must stay in bed, don't even sit up when you take your temperature. you need at least 3 consecutive hours of sleep for your temp to be considered accurate. and take it at the same time every day, even on the weekends. that temp may or may not be high, you'll figure out what is high or low for you over time. if you tep later then usual or have less then 3 hours of sleep your temp will generally be higher.

you should have sex leading up to the temp spike (thermal shift). once your temp has risen and stays high you already ovulated and the sperm will not be able to fertilize the egg if you have sex after your thermal shift. (with that said it is still ecommended that you have sex the day following ovulation as that sperm may have a chance to fertilize the egg, but the egg dies without 12-24 after ovulation so the "fertiliazation from sex after O" window is small)

    3. - I think there are only those two for now.

    TIA!
