I know you are not supposed to give kids a lot of juice b/c of the sugar but I can get a bottle free at HEB and was wondering if is it is too much crap for DD or not.
When we give it, we water it down a lot - 3/4 water.
However, this all started during some illness that warranted dehydration relief. The slippery slope has just started leveling back to water and milk.
Ask your pedi - mine is an "unless constipated or dehydration concern, not recommended." Of course, my friend also goes to our pedi and was not given the same instructions.
the no HFCS is a new thing for them, tho, so you do need to check your packaging. that being said, i was always told no juice until at least a year due to sugar content. if you do give it to her, make it more than 50% water.
Luca drinks it.. We do 2 oz juice to 4 oz water.... It's a treat some afternoons with his snack.. However, I also give my kid chocolate milk... and let him eat cookies.... and shared a frozen yogurt with him yesterday... Kids got to live a little...

hehe Kaitlyn LOVES Chocolate and Strawberry Milk. Luckily, while there's sugar content, the fat content is low for both and we use 2% milk. *shrug* She gets cookies too, one for a snack... chips as well (although she wouldn't get them near as much if it were me at home with her). We also put Go-gurts in the freezer for her to have a "Popsicle" treat. hehe

TOTALLY!
Kohen will be 3 in next month and I still do 25% juice and 75% water (mainly due to habit). Kamryn only gets one cup of juice a day with her afternoon snack and it is heavily diluted.
Kids have to be kids at some point in time. Kohen shared chocolate chip Bluebell ice cream with me last night It was delish.
Juicy Juice is one of the least healthy juices, I do know that (according to the "Eat This, Not That" book for kids)...so I probably wouldn't give it that young.

sure, i agree. truitt gets plenty of treats (we went to smootie king yesterday and had jack in the box milkshakes on monday) but she asked if juicy juice was a good option for not-even 1 year old and generally, while it's by no means Coke, there are a lot better juices out there.

it's 100% juice... doesn't have added sugar... and it's pasturized.. served diluted, I don't see how it could be unhealthy...
I get the juice debate but if you're going to give juice I think 100% juice diluted with water is the way to go. 100% juice is the only type of juice we drink in our house (Kian and I) and Juicy Juice is one of the brands we buy.
If you are giving juice why wouldn't 100% juice be best?
I don't think anyone said children NEED juice. Adults don't NEED juice either. There are plenty of things in life that we don't need. But what kind of life would it be if we just stuck to the things we need?
Re: Is Juicy Juice a "healthy" juice?
My pedi advises against it. I wasn't going to give it anyway, but she confirmed the decision.
I also don't like anything with HFCS in it anyway due to the fact about 1/3 of it contains mercury.
Juicy juice doesn't have HFCS. It is just juice.

What did they say was wrong with it?

Children do not need ANY juice. It is a major problem when looking at obesity.
If you MUST give juice no mroe than 4 oz per day. Juice is the same as drinking soda, it just had vitamin C.

She is a know it all. I would say that 95% of her posts are like this.
I was about to say
I am kind of crabby can you tell?
What were we both doing up so late???
