I posted Tues about being laid off (boo). I'm pulling DD (10 months old) out of DC Oct. 1. Our branch has a wait list so she won't be able to go back right away. They opened a new one about 10 mins away, that she'll be able to get into whenever I get a job. We'll be first on the wait list for our original DC, and it should take a few months at the other place.
Our favorite teacher is now at the new DC, so baby will know her. I feel horrible that DD has to leave her little buddies for a few months, then be swithced back over.
Is she going to be sad/confused/overwhelmed? I know I am!!!
(We can't afford to pay for DC while I'm unemployed, and there's no deposit I can give to hold our spot or anything)
Re: Reassure me about DC switches
Do you have to switch her back over to her original daycare if you're happy with the "new" one? How old is your LO?
We switched centers when DS was 17 months old. I was shocked at how well he did. I was so worried, but he did so well. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of tears at the beginning of that week (from both me and him!) but by Friday, he was back to being my happy baby boy. Kids really are resilient. You're not going to scar her for life by moving centers a couple of times.
Good luck with everything.
The new center is farther from home the wrong direction from both our work/home, by a good 10 mins each way. Doable for a few months, but long term would be rough (given the traffic/train schedule, it'll be close call picking her up by 6 each night). With the old DC, we're okay and not too rushed most nights.

Lots of switches, and she has adjusted beautifully to all!
