SATURDAY-

QOTD - Do you know how you are decorating the nursery yet? Will it be a themed nursery? Specific to a boy or a girl?

Me (Holly) - We are using our DD's room for the nursery. My mom painted beautiful Dr. Suess characters on the walls. Wanna see?

We will do a big girl room for my DD!

  • Super cute paintings luvbrett! We will not be finding out the sex of the baby so I want to paint the nursery a pale green. I don't want a theme of any sort, just nicely decorated. Possibly just children's books pages framed on the walls, possibly framed fabrics that are pretty or maybe just other cute pictures. I plan to get dark espresso furniture and buy a bedskirt once the baby is born in either blue or pink.

  • I don't think we'll do a theme.  For a girl I really want to do purple and green - but can't seem to find much with those colors :(.  I don't know what I'll do for a boy.

  • We wont really do a theme, but will pick a few colors and match everything to that. We will be finding out the sex so wont pick it out until we find out.

We won't have a theme, but do want to find out the sex so we can decorate.

I think for either girl or boy I will do light blue walls.

I have already been spending wayyy too much time on the Nursey Decor board. So exciting!

  • Oh my goodness! What a cute room! I wish someone in my family was that artistic!!!! We are not really sure what we are going to do yet. I have some great ideas for the nursery if it's a girl, but have no idea what we'd want to do for a boy. I doubt we will put much thought into it until after we find out the sex of the baby sometime in late June. I'm looking forward to it though!!!

  • We haven't put too much thought into the nusery yet! I'm not sure. But it won't be gender neutral, it will be boy/girl-centric. Smile

  • Not really sure yet what we are doing for the nursery! We did paint it a green color before we had DD so it could be used for either a boy or girl. I'm thinking doing turtles for a boy and not really sure if we will keep it the same for another girl or change it up (we have a ladybug theme for DD). DD's new room has polka dots, that was a lot of fun and it will last awhile. I don't think I'll ever do a "character" themed bedroom.

  • I'm sure we will just use DDs room, or if we move I'll keep everything neutral again like I did with DD.  Even though we found out we were having a girl I wasn't convinced, I guess I'm a skeptic!  I won't believe the sex until the baby comes
  • my mom and I have narrowed the theme/design of the nursery down to about 4 styles. Once we know what we're having then we'll decorate this summer while she's visiting! Oh, and DH had some input too :-)
  • For a boy, we defintley want to do a baseball theme. I want to paint the words to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" on the wall above the crib. And of course, the color scheme will be blue and orange for the New York Mets!! For a girl, I keep going back and forth between a ladybug theme and using the colors black, white and red. Or the usual pink, girly theme. I can't decide!!
  • Hi everyone! I haven't been bumping much these days - but I hope things are great with all of you!

QOTD - Do you know how you are decorating the nursery yet? Will it be a themed nursery? Specific to a boy or a girl?

No idea! We have to buy a house first, then we'll concentrate on the nursery. I don't think I want to know the sex (though DH does) so it'll be gender neutral. I saw a cute bedding set a while back with bumblebees on it - if I can find that again, I'll probably pick it up.

  • I think we are planning a teddy bear themed nursery. We don't want to find out the sex so we wanted to pick something cute but still gender neutral.

  • I have no idea yet, I hope something comes to me =)

  • The Seuss paintings are great! :) We're doing a 'sheeps and shamrocks' theme. DH is very Irish, and I spent time in and love Scotland, so we're sort of tying those together. The walls will be 'sprite twist' and 'elf shoe' green, and I plan to stencil-paint some kind of border along the top. It's pretty gender neutral so we can get started early, and once we know the gender we can add touches such as rainbows with a pot of gold for a girl or orange hairy highland cows for a boy, to add more color and stimulation.

  • Well, the baby will have to share a room with DS, so if its a boy, then the theme will remain the same (Harley davidson) but if its a girl, we thought we might split the room.
  • Love the Suess characters!  We're waiting to find out the sex before I decorate anything but I have an idea in mind for both.  I've started gathering a few small things to decorate from Etsy but nothing big for now.  No theme, either purple for a girl or gray/blue for a boy.
  • I love the Dr. Suess theme!  We are doing a "Little Big Planet" theme.  If you've never seen the PS3 game, it's adorable.  I've even found a pattern to knit a sackboy for the LO.  We are finding out the gender but we are also moving into a new house mid-May so I don't think I'll be able to wait to start decorating.  SO, it will be pretty gender neutral until we know.  =)   Also, I'm kind of thinking I don't want to push the gender stereotypes on the kid any way (i.e. pink=girl, blue=boy) so we'll probably stick to green anyhow.
  • QOTD - Do you know how you are decorating the nursery yet? Will it be a themed nursery? Specific to a boy or a girl?

If we have a boy, we will have a tattoo-art theme with lots of classic and traditional-style tattoo paintings (DH collects). We will also incorporate monkeys into any decor -- boy or girl. For girl though, i'd like to go more vintage with the room with really soft pinks and ivory. We'll have to do more shopping if it's a girl :)

    Love the Dr Seuss paintings?

  • We will be moving before the baby comes, so I will have to be inspired by the space I'll have! It will totally depend on what we're having, too. It will definitely be gender specific. I think once I find bedding, I'll branch off of that and incorporate things.?
  • I have no idea at this point lol...DH doesn't really seem to get the nursery decorating thing at all.  He just thinks we need a crib and a changing table and that will suffice.

We are finding out the sex of the baby but I'm not really a pink or blue person so I am leaning toward a unisex color for the room but not really a theme per se.

  • QOTD - Do you know how you are decorating the nursery yet? Will it be a themed nursery? Specific to a boy or a girl?

I won't be painting, but I really haven't thought about decorating. If it's a girl, definately, if it's a boy, I dunno if I'd go all blue.

  • Love the Dr. Suess!  I don't have any real ideas yet, but you all seem to have some great ones that I love, and may need to use for inspiration.  We plan to find out the sex, but will still probably keep the theme/colors more gender nuetral.
  • wow, Luvbrett! those are beautiful paintings :)

We will be finding out the sex, so probably purple/green/yellow for a girl, and blue/brown for a boy. I don't think we'll have a theme, but we'll see if anything strikes us as we start shopping in a couple more months!

  • Not a clue.  I'll wait to see what we're having first. I have some ideas, but I'm not one for themes.  I think they're stinkin' cute, but prefer colors I guess.  I know I want to use brown and blues for a boy and green, brown, and pink for a girl.  We'll see.  I'm excited to think through it all, but will have to wait another couple of months to find out what we're having.
  • if its a boy, we want to do where the wild things are. A girl, I have no idea.

  • I've been looking at nursery stuff since before I even got my BFP, and I would always find something I like and then two weeks later it would change, but now I think I finally found something that I love! There are two different colors with the same pattern, with elephants on it. We are finding out what we are having so it will be gender specific. Pink and brown for a girl and green and brown for a boy. Check out the links below if you want to see it, it's Carter's from JCPenney the first link is the green and brown and the second one is the pink and brown.

  • we are going to do a themed nursery.  After we find out if we are having a boy or girl we are going to pick out bedding and go from there.  My step mom is a painter so she is going to paint designs on our walls :)
  • Do you know how you are decorating the nursery yet?

    Yes

Will it be a themed nursery?

Yes ... either safari or jungle theme. Basically lots of animals and trees.

Specific to a boy or a girl?

    None gender specific.

  • We had a jungle theme for DD.  We will be getting her new BIG girl stuff and then using the jungle theme for this baby.  I am really glad we got neutral stuff so we can reuse it.
  • Those Dr. Suess paintings are amazing! We will be waiting until we find out the gender in July to make any final decisions, but I'm kind of leaning towards a jungle/Noah's arc/animal theme if we are having a boy. I'm really not big into pink, so if it's a girl, my goal will be to find something lavender or some other color. We're just kind of seeing what is out there at this point.
