LOL at dumping poop from disposables in the toilet

  • Of course not.

  • DS is still in the poop-goo stage.  4-6 times/day.  Even if I had the energy or desire to somehow get the poo into a toilet (to lessen the smell, I'm guessing?) it doesn't just fall out.  Especially since 3/4 of it is still attached to his leg.

Siiiiigh.  Do they make Activia for babies?

  • You're supposed to do it because when sh!t/poop/poo/feces decomposes, it creates methane gas. Methane gas is highly combustible and all around bad news.

Just don't live near a landfill and you should be golden.

ew, i think activia would make him go more often!!

  • I don't know anyone who actually does that!  But, I'm pretty sure you're *supposed* to according to the package.

i will laugh at the trashman when he goes through my trash & brings back my diaper trash.  "excuse me, ma'am?  did you know you threw away poop?"

ROFL.  Can you imagine?  The trashman walking up to your door and ringing the bell- holding the opened diaper with poop inside-  "Hey Lady!  You aren't supposed to throw this in the trash!"

  • Most current landfills have methane collection systems in place. They use accumulated methane to power their whole operation, so frankly, I doubt they'd be upset about excess methane-producing material.

And I have never ever ever heard that you are supposed to do that, despite covering 11 different landfill applications, including two ongoing in my area right now, and spending a day-in-the-life at a landfill, and being chewed on by more BSC environmentalist nutjobs than you could find at a Sierra Club rally sponsored by Prozac.

if the trashman ever went through your trash and found diapers (and it was illegal in your area), the trashman would most likely NOT be the one knocking on your door. Just sayin'. I know they take illegal dumping EXTREMELY serious here, no matter who or what they are dumping.

And check your next package of disposables. They're required to have a statement on there telling you to flush poop.

    hehehehe...  dumping.

  • I guarantee you no one is going to knock doors down over poop in a baby's diaper. But please, carry on.

Our city composts diapers and that initiative is spreading. In other cities (check yours) flushing your waste simply means it will get into your local waterways. So while it may not be in the landfill, its not much better floating into your local lake.

Sorry, but in PA, illegal dumping means leaving your garbage someplace isntead of having someone pick it up. It is taken very seriously, because of all of our strip mines and deep mines, where people just drive out and dump their trash. I don't get it, because I'd much rather pay someone to pick up my trash than put icky trash bags in my car.

For real. ?Who wants to drive stinky?trash around in their car when they can have someone else do it for them and save their nose the hurt?

i give shepherd pills to make his smell like cinnamon buns, after we go to the beautiful people's club.

  • I have DD trained to dump her own diapers.  I figure if she's not going to take the initiative to use the toilet and lose the diapers, I shouldn't be the one that has to suffer.

  • I have both CD and sposied in my lifetime..CD is ickier.  I'm in it for the long haul now, but there is  definately an extra layer of ick involved.

I wear gloves to do the scraping part.  All diaper/waste issues aren't pretty, but scraping and plopping Ick!

  • This post is awesome.

So there's a dump like 10 miles from here.  It makes your eyes water and smells like baby poo x a bajillion stank just to drive by with the windows up. But I'm still not scraping poo in the toilet. That's why I don't CD!

lol, throwing away my kids poop is illegal in MN? That's news to me. I know my mom use to do that but she used CDs most of the time.

  • Sounds like I should be happy with constipation because it is easier to clean up when potty training.

  • Okay, I'll bite - yes, I do dump poop from disposables into the toilet. I do CD about 50% of the time, but I noticed how non-stinky our trash can was when we CD'd and the poop went into the toilet instead of the trash. If dumping the poops into the toilet saves my kitchen from smelling like baby feces, then I'm all for it.

diaper genie.  no smell, no poo scraping.

I have a small plain old diaper pail. Every poop diaper, the liner gets pulled, tied shut, and taken outside to the big can. Not hard at all. And I keep baking soda and lemon peel in a shaker in his room. It get sifted over the diapers every time I put one in the pail. My house never smells icky from pee or poop diapers.

  • I do it.  I CD part-time and dump the poop into the toilet, so it is easy enough to do the same with the disposables.  I am not comfortable with poop sitting in a container in DS's room until trash day.  And, I would rather the poop go into the sewage system than into a landfill.
