7 month moms...come on in!

I have a quick question for you. I noticed they have the chicken, rice and noodle dinners in the jar for 6 months and up. I did buy some yesterday but wasnt sure about giving him meats just yet. Did any of you do this or are you holding off too?

Re: 7 month moms...come on in!

  • Our pedi ok'd meats at 6 months.  We give him all of those puree combos.  Earth's Best has some nice combos as well - turkey w/wild rice, beef w/tender spinach, chicken mango risotto, etc.  DS actually loves just the jars of plain pureed meat as well - I don't get that at all...

  • I'm not sure if you're suppose to or not, but I've given DS a jar here and there.  The pedi said he could have stage 2 foods, and it's a stage 2 food.  I don't think it's a ton of meat anyhow.  It's probably more flavoring than anything.  They're pretty thinned down.  Have you seen the smaller jars that are just meats?  I bought a couple of those just to get DS use to the taste.  They're really thick and nothing like the ones you're talking about.

Hmmm....ok, this has prompted me to call the pedi and see what they say. Even though, I'll probably still start tonight. Wink

  • DS has had chicken, turkey, and beef.  he's done just fine.  he didn't like beef very much though.

I dont think I have seen the ones that are just meat? I will have to look at those next time I go in the store though. It does have chicken in the ingredients, but it is thinned down like you say so I think it will be ok. I just hope he likes the chicken b/c that's about all I seen. LOL

I bought one of the mixed meals (I think meat and rice dinner) and read the ingredients and it had egg whites on the list. So I haven't given it to DD yet b/c we were told no egg whites yet. I'm not sure if it's not a big deal since it is mixed with everything else, but I was just going to wait until DD's 9 month appt and ask the pediatrician.
