Ug, how do you tell someone they're a bad mom....?

I've posted before about a certain 'friend' I have that was pissed about the gender of second child...

well anyway she was visiting her parents this week (she lives across the country from me now, but we grew up in the same town... I've never left) and she and her DS and me and my DD all went to downtown disney yesterday for a few hours..

She is 22 weeks pregnant witn DS #2... and in the 2.5 hours we were there, she smoked 3 cigaretts... I can't stop thinking about this it breaks my heart

I'm glad she doesn't live in the area anymore, because I don't think i could associate with her that much. And her poor sons

she's pg and smoking!! ?If she was my friend, I would totally say something. I couldn't bear to watch her do that. ?I've seen pg women on the street smoking and I want to yell at them, so I could imagine how you feel and she is your friend. WOW!!

She's dog turd. Go ahead and call her and tell her what a horrible person and mother she is and that you never want to see her or talk to her again.

Then delete her completely from your life.

She is a waste of your time and energy.?

I would have had to say something. I doubt it would have made a difference though but still. I mean, obviously she knows smoking while pregnant is harmful and is doing it regardless. Unless she doesn't know and is just that stupid. Either way...bad news

I would not have been able to keep my mouth shut. I use to work for a non-profit organization that helped children with serious illnesses. There was a woman there whose child was being treated for cancer and I watched her smoke everyday while pregnant with her second child. I could not say anything because of my employment, but believe me I wanted to. If it were my friend, I absolutely would have said something. In fact, if I were you I would call or email her and say something. People like that make me ill.

We went to a new years party/friend's birthday. Some girl was there who was about 7 months pg. She stood outside and smoked the whole time!! I don't even know who she was but it upset me. Ug.

There was a woman I knew that also was smoking during pregnancy - I think about 3-5 cigarettes a day she said. I don't know if it's BS, but her OB said it was more stressful to the baby if she were to stop because she was so addicted and use to smoke a pack - a pack and a half a day... the OB told her, obviously, that it was horrible to smoke while pregnant, but she was 'okay' with a few cigarettes a day to satisfy the moms addiction and not stress out her body or the baby.

Just stopping in to say HI, not sure if you remember me from TheKnot. I see you are working on #2, congratz! I am not on here much, but now that he is old enough of a new message board I figured i'd chceck it out, see what I can learn.

Your friend sucks! but I bet if ya said anything to her she still would smoke anyways...once they have it in their head that it's "ok" they hold on hard and disregard anyting anyone says.

I would definitely remind her of all the dangers of cigarettes to her unborn child. If she gave me one hint of an attitude, I would tell her she's selfish and needs to realize that she is pregnant and it's not all about her anymore!!

Sadly, the PPs are probably right and she won't listen. People like this make me sick to my stomach.

This has been my experience. I knew someone who smoked through two pregancies and lost them both before she finally decided not to do it the third time around--and had a healthy baby.
